    Hooray, hooray! I thought my old friends at PRA had dropped me. Their last call before this morning was ten whole days ago. This was call #209 since they "decided to cease collection efforts" on an unverified, past statute so-called debt in September of 2010. That was almost two years ago, and they haven't figured out yet how to remove this telephone number from their robo-calling program. You gotta love these guys!

    FOR MY TEXAS FRIENDS>>>>>

    Texas state laws are more consumer friendly than most states where the statute of limitations starts after the account has been charged off.

    In Texas, the Statute of Limitations clock starts on the day the last payment on the account was made. This is often referred to as the ‘date of last activity’ or DLA.

    Example: If the last payment on a credit card was made on January 1, 2005, then the statute of limitations for legal action on the account would expire on January 1, 2009. On January 2, 2009, the debt no longer carries a legal obligation to pay.
    SO CHECK YOUR CREDIT REPORTS....

    FYI, in no state does the SOL clock start at charge-off.  It always starts on date of first delinquency, which is almost always the first 30-day late.

    Credit reporting is an entirely different matter as it governed by the FCRA, whereas each of the 50 states establishes its own SOL.

    If it is against the laws in most states for Portfolio Recovery to attempt to collect debts that are past the Statue of Limitations in the states why aren't the States Atty. General's doing their jobs and taking them to court and forcing them to Stop and collecting Fines against them for doing this??????????

    If they are calling your CELL, and you are NOT the person they are looking for, or it's for YOU but the debt is EXPIRED (ck your state-CREDIT CARDS 3 to 10 Yrs & WRITTEN CONTRACTS -3 to 15 Yrs )or you never gave your CELL to the original DEBT CO, Check NACA ONLINE for an attorney to SUE!!!! because; "Congress passed the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (“TCPA”), 47 U.S.C. §227, to curtail the use of automated dialers and prerecorded messages to cell phones without the permission of the consumer." ...$500.00 per telephone call and $1,500.00 per telephone call if willful. !!!!
    There are free phone search companies ONLINE (I found 4) that can be accessed by anyone...that show clearly in the FREE AREA that my phone number is a CELL...And if they PAY A SMALL MONTHLY FEE can see who the CELL Number belongs to...I'D CALL IT WILLFUL!!!! I'm giving that info to my Attorney!
    Other complaints can be filed; BBB, FTC, FCC, Do Not Call List, Consumer Complaints, Attorney General of State the company is located in...ALSO...ck;

    Calls from this number are always coming to my home phone, Portfolio Recovery, HA! What a joke what are they going to recover for me I have no portfolio. I have received a host of call from companies that claim I owe them, when I FULL well know what I DO owe and am making valiant efforts to resolve them. Anyone else that calls are barking up the wrong tree. When I did a refinance on my home I actually had to pay a few (out of left field) debts that I KNEW I did not owe. But they said just pay it or we could not proceed, HOWEVER recently those same debtors have popped back up, some under different names, some with the same ALL claiming I still OWE! ... My problem, with all of our technologies and ways of fighting sooo many other battles WHY are us HARD working BILL PAYING people still having to FIGHT to prove we are in the right!? Be it the IRS, phony or tactless collections places like NCO Financial (one of the above mentioned PAID off wrongful debt) and then THEY come back at US later on to collect again LIKE WE FORGET that we already settled that WRONGFUL debt just so we can get on with our life! ... Anyway that is all thanks for your time :)

    creditcards.com will tell you the statute of limitation for your state. Also, a good book to read is 'FIGHT BACK AGAINST UNFAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES' by Fred Williams. Know your rights and also know when you are being scammed by the low lifes. Remember, the Statute of Limitations starts over if you make any payments or even acknowledge the debt in any way. Once the clock starts again, they can hound you daily.
