Left an automated message about lowering the interest rate on my credit card.  Claimed to be my credit card company, yet my bank had no knowledge of this call or phone number.  Apparent scam.

I got a call from this number and pushed the #1 as it asked. Operator just answered and hungup. I only use my home phone number for my credit cards and these people called my cell. My credit cards do not have my cell phone number so this number has to be a phishing scam.

Just receive a call about lowering my interest rates on credit cards.  I do not even own a credit card any more.  I have a visa card through my bank and they told me this is a scam.

Called cellular phone at 1605 Tuesday 01 May 2012.
Apparently an automated caller, as the female voice started the message before the voicemail picked up.

For our telephone numbers, whether home or cell phones, SOMEONE is selling a list of these numbers. I just received a call on my cell phone which is a BUSINESS PHONE.  No one has this cell phone number other than those businesses that I have a business relationship.  Is the telephone companies selling our information, or insurance companies, or professional relationships - just who is doing this? I asked my telephone carrier (they were hesitant and then answered NO). Now, I do not believe them because of the hesitation.

Received a call from this number today at 0900.  Did not answer, but an automated message was left on my voice mail, offering reduced interest rates.  Did not respond to message.  I do not provide my number to ANY companies.  Must be a robocall.

This same automated call is coming from several numbers; I've started taking them down: all have to do with your credit card, I never listen long enough to find out precisely what. "Arkansas call" 501-246-8748; "Alabama call" 251-272-1440 ("Jennifer with consumer services"); "Georgia call" 404-418-8936 (also "Jennifer with consumer services"). Right that, about hoping the opt-out option on these comes early in the call, but clearly one will need to use it again and again until all the initiating phone numbers have been exhausted.

"This is Jennifer at Consumer Services" ... After having received this annoying, unwanted call repeatedly at least once each week over the past several months, I pressed "1" to talk with a representative.  My intent was to speak with a real person and request my number be removed as is supposedly required of them by federal law.  When I got the representative, and could get her bored attention away from her pre-written speil, I told her to remove my number from her list.  Her reply was that that was not possible because mine was an incoming call.  !!??  Apparently these hucksters have found a loophole by transferring the call to another call center and thereby hiding the fact that they really initiated the call.

This is the same recorded message: it's either the perky "Anne" or "Rachel" or "Jennifer" calling with "did you know you can lower the interested rate on your credit card?!!!". The first time they called I actually talked to the guy-but I knew its a scam because they actually asked ME for MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER. Of course I hung up!  Now, I press 1 until I get to a real person and then repeat over and over to them once they answer "please quit calling this number" until they hang up. I don't suppose it does any good, but it makes me feel better.  If you call the number back, you can opt to "place your number on the do not call list" but many times, if I can these numbers back (the "Anne", "Rachel", or "Jennifer" numbers) it says the number is disconnected, even if I call immediately. SO I have downloaded a SILENT RING TONE and add these incoming called to the contact "Junk" and assign the silent ring tone to it. At least now, the phone doesn't ring, but it's still annoying and its got to be illegal, but I don't know how to stop the calls.

I received an automated call from this number on my cell and asked the representative to take me off the calling list. He told me "no" and hung up on me.  I called the number back and was greeted with a recorded message telling me that if I want to be taken off the call list I should press 1.  The recorded message told me it may take a month before it takes effect.   We'll see.

The person whom I asked to remove my number from the call list was defiant and insolent, saying, "big deal"  repeatedly, saying "It's a cell phone but it's not private." to my request.

I added this number to my ATT Uverse "call Forwarding" list. Any future calls from this number will automatically be forwarded to the Mississippi State Attorney General"s office. Let them deal with these "scammers". I also put them on hold while I "went to get my credit card" The dumb [***] held for 17 minutes before he hung up. If everyone would waste these [***] time like that, maybe they would go away ?????

Having received numerous calls like this, and knowing it was a scam, I decided to engage the caller for a couple of minutes.  When I finally asked, "Do you sleep well at night?", the caller became belligerent!  He started to say things like, "Oh, yeah, go ahead and go to church...Go ahead and be the policeman...You're a [removed:lang]!" (I didn't actually know one could be both.)  There was more, but I just can't remember all of the hate speech he used on me.  It sounded as if I wasn't the first person to get under his skin.  Hopefully, I will be one of the last and he will decide that an honest job is a great opportunity to build a life and a future.

Unfortunately with Verizon one can only block 5 numbers at a time. The good news is that it seems like they don't go back to very old numbers once they've moved on to a new set of numbers. I've blocked the last 5 numbers they called me from and now I only get called about once a week or less.

Here's a list of the 18 numbers they have called me from:

They've called me 3 times tonight. I didn't answer the phone, my husband did. They made it sound like they were my electric company. Wrong area code for that. So, I looked up the number and here I am.

    Getting Pissed
Got a call from 501-246-8748: Card Services.  So this time I pressed 1 to get thier person to tie up their time.

I asked who is Card Serivces - they gave the usual story about working with CC companies, etc.  I asked Did I Opt In with Card Services to receive their call - They said I did not have to Opt in.  They were informed that it is Now against the law to call without opting in.  They kept getting back to task about how much Debt I have, so I played along till they hung up.  You would think that after every time they call and I harrass them they would STOP Calling!.

They did call my Verizon Cell Phone, which I think they probably sold our phone #s to these SCAMers.
