    Received a phone call from this #; it was a prerecorded message about a complaint- same VM as received from another # last week-605-496-9191- so they must be connected- this # is in AK, and the other one was in SD.  I don't know anyone who lives in either state, and neither phone number comes up under the BBB website as a valid business in either state.  Seems like a debt collection scam to me working out of various states.

    You better ignore the calls and block your phones.

    Well Unknown, why don't you post verifiable proof of what you claim to have happened.  You would be the first shill to be able to do so, just think, you'll be famous outside of your entourage of one.

    Give me a break...what a maroon.

    I got sued for an outstanding payday loan from BMG (parenting company), lender J D Marketing. I borrowed $300 received collections and mediation calls that I ignored from the same #. I thought was a prank until I got served last year and 25% of my wages are currently being garnished.

    What exactly is the problem here? replies to Cathy
    If you owed money, received correct & real (not from foreign 3rd world extorting criminals) bills in the mail, then this is how it sometimes ends up. If the debt was real and you received by US Mail a valid proof of debt, what is the problem here? Nothing in the mail? Just phone calls? Nope. If you owe money you can be sure of one thing - you got mail.

    So are you saying that you were served and then went to court, lost the case and a judge ordered your wages garnished?   What state was this in?  What is the name and physical address of the company that sued you?  It would be listed as plaintiff on your court papers.  Since you will not be divulging personal information, there should be no problem posting it.

    They don't provide an address to send a written notice.  They hung up on me after I asked for one.  When they are asked for their company name, they avoid the subject.  Been harassing me constantly and very rude.  Had a lot of my personal information.  Claimed that I had not paid a debt 3 years ago and that if I don't pay through them, my case will be turned over to my county office for prosecution. SCAM DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM.  Get things in writing and don't give them any personal information.

    so what is it that they are scamming?
    I got this call today, and told me id be getting a subpoena soon to appear in court.
    she never asked for money, or gave an option to pay, just that if I took my day in court, the option to settle would be off the table.
    they had a lot of personal information, but what doesn't add up, they claim the debt is from 2011 and I never had this phone number at that time.

    http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors

    Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
    Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

    Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
    Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
    Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
    Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

    This number called looking for someone who had this number previously. I've had this number for over a year. I called it back, the lady told me I would be removed from their call list and hung up on me. They called again two days later! I called again and she completely cut me off and stated it would take at least 30 days for my number to be removed, then proceeded to hang up on me again. She was SO RUDE!! I shouldn't have to wait so long for them to quit harassing me!
