- MonicaReceived a call from this number saying I had a civil suit against me for two Pay Day Loans taken out in 2011 and 2012. I've never taken a Pay Day Loan! It's a scam and they are trying to extort money from people. Also, the incoming number is from WV and the number you need to call back is KY. It's not even an 1-800 number.
- Cheryl| 1 replyReceived a call today concerning a civil complaint against me for a $300 loan I supposedly took out in 2007. It was never paid back & they are suing me. None of this makes sense. I would have had no need to go to Allied Cash Advance (in Alexandria & Manassas) for just $300! Our credit union has a revolving loan for much more than that. If someone stole my identity, why did they only take out $300? Why weren't there more charges using my name & SSN (they had my SSN!!)? Why are they bothering me now- 8 years later? The incoming number on my phone was 703 314-3248. Spoke with Liza Sands (single mother of 3) who will let the lawyers know I contest this. Last month Lynn Tally left a similar message but the cal back number wasn't clear.

- Bill RenkoRecv'd a call from this number for a Kelly Ann Whitmeyer. I receive a call from some variation of this company at least twice a month for her. Called back as usual and got a "Tanisha" this time who stated she worked for Steinberg and Associates. And I actually managed to get an address out her, 5456 Peachtree Boulevard in Atlanta, Georgia- even though she denied it was in Atlanta. Odd that the area code is from Kentucky. The address she gave me in Atlanta is a building full of scam and junk debt collectors also. Like Hill and Associates, McKinzie and Wright, Hoffman and Associates and the rest of the names this company hides behind. They buy daces old debts and try to scam people out of their money. Pay no attention to these clowns. Peachtree Boulevard in Atlanta is chock full of these scammers. So don't get taken. Don't send money or provide any information. Tell them to mail you all the paperwork. Then see if you actually owe the debt, it's highly unlikely.

- Bill Renko replies to CherylThey buy up old debt and try to frighten you into paying it. Tell them to mail you all the paperwork and have a lawyer look it over. The name you get from the people isn't real. They're simply scam artists, so don't get taken.
- Anonymsick and tired of these scamer's that this all they have to do all day long is scam people and use their ital threats.
Threat me again and i will be filling charges against you , call my job one more time and be your last cause i will file law suit against you for harasment and whole 9 yards, and if you don't understand that then you will understand my lawyer. Not playing your games so bring it on. - DebThey call several times a day and even call my ex and my relatives. I have told them off several times and threatened them. They continue to call. Very annoying. I have blocked them then they call from a different number. The case number is different every time.
- LDMy info got sold somewhere along the way. I receive a number of these calls every day. It's super annoying. They can never provide anything in writing. When you ask them specific questions about this "debt" they get uptight and start to threaten you with lawyers, police, and whatever else they think they can do to get you to send them money. It's a scam. Do not give them any money. Report them to the FCC and block the number.
- down with scams replies to Randy WagnerThese are illegal low life scammers. Ask them for a mailing address, the refuse, thats because they do not want to get caught! They break federal laws with every phone call. Report them to the BBB your local PD, the FBI and your attorney general's office. Do what I do, I have their number auto forwarded to my attorney general's office!
- DeniseThis number (502) 805-1740 has called my number for over a year. The person they are asking for does not have this number not have I ever heard of that person. I told these people that last year! Yet they still continue to call my number. I have had this same number for 5 years! It is getting really annoying! Surely there is something that can be done about them calling!
- MichelleThey called both my house number and my cell number. They said I owed money for a payday loan from 5 years ago which was paid in full, 5 YEARS AGO! I haven't touched another payday loan in over 5 years. They are trying to scam you out of money. They couldn't provide anything in writing. Trying to say I had a civil suit against me yada yada yada. Completely bogus! The number they actually call you from in supposedly located in Missouri 314-884-3248 and then they ask you to call a KY number! STAY AWAY!!!!!!!

- KMBThis number 502-805-1740 called my home and stats they need me to call back about a case file. The name they give is from a guy who stold my husbans SSN about 10 years ago. No matter what we tell these people they call back for weeks for a few months, then drop off the face of the earth for over a year. Then pop back up like a weed. I am truely sick of it. The dude they are looking for has a Facebook page with all his family on it. If I can find him why can't they? Oh thats right he doesn't pay them so they try to get it out of the guy that did nothing wrong.

If someone calls saying he's an IRS agent and demands that you send money immediately, hang up.
It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.
The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.
By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.
Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.
They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.
Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.
The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.
If you get what you suspect is a scam call, report it to TIGTA through its Web site or call 800-366-4484.
