- Kathy S| 1 replyA man, whose accent was so strong I could barely understand what he said, asked to speak with the person in the house that used our computer. I had received such a call before so I bated him just a bit to see what he wanted. He said 'they' had been receiving messages of errors or issues with our computer, then asked if we had seen them. When I said no, he proceeded to tell me that he could help me get rid of those messages. At least twice more I told him we received no messages and that I know that all he wanted to do was to get access to our computer and cause trouble, to which I hung up. Within a minute, he called back. Asked what happened, why I hung up. I explained to him that we pay a security system to monitor and take care of issues on our computer. He wanted to tell me how to fix it myself..kept saying 'you don't understand' I'm not going to do anything to your computer, you will be doing it yourself. To which I had to repeat about 5 times, that I was not going to do anything to our computer and then I hung up for the last time. Persistent gentleman, but got the wrong person this time.
- Yen2Just received a call from this number. A man with a heavy foreign accent stated his name was "Chris" and that he represented "ifixpc.com" or something similar. He stated that they had received some "errors" from my computer and he would like to help identify them. I instantly knew this was a scam as I run linux PCs and do not use a conventional PC. Furthermore I am completely capable of looking up and fixing my own "errors". I told him I knew this was a scam and that he was a liar. If you receive calls like this you can be sure it is a fraud.
- Caller: Fraudulent
- PJReceived call at 12:05 pm CST, 12/2/14. Man with thick middle eastern accent claimed that "they received many computer error messages" and claimed to be from MicroSoft. I told him I didn't believe him and to put our number on the don't call list. Obviously a scammer. Do not give them any information, not even your name.
- Caller: who knows, claims to be microsoft
- Call type: Prank
- Not fooling meReceived a call from this number last night, woman with an accent I don't recognize, stating that "they" had been receiving messages from my computer. Never stated who they were, so instant red flag that this is a scam company. Any legit company would start off by identifying themselves. Also ticked me off by calling me "Sir" and I'm a woman. OMG Hung up instantly after that one. DON'T listen to them hang up and if they call again keep hanging up on them.
- Caller: No idea Never stated a name
- ashleyI don't want this number calling me
- John Rat 19_66as soon as i said, "sure give me your number and i'll have him (user of our computer) call you back" they hung up. mofo's.

- IT in Wisconsin| 1 replyYep, my wife has been receiving these calls, and had received one just before I got home from work. She told them to never call again. Ten mins later, another call. I had the pleasure of speaking with him. Played dumb. He asked me to do a Windows-R (run). Then when I took my time, he asked why I was wasting his time, since he was trying to help me. I then informed him that I work in IT, and his request was illegal/fraudulent. Gosh, he hung up on me. The 2 phone calls tonight were from different phone numbers (503-020-1453 & 510-968-9078).

- Close callSome Rules of Thumb
1. Caller ID doesn't give an identity to the person calling you about sensitive information (Warning Sign)
2. They talk in loops/don't verify who they are and who you are (Warning Sign)
3. They lie about their phone number (caller ID is your friend)
4. Major companies tend to have you call them if there's a problem, not the other way round
5. Why would a major company have their tech person make phone calls (They're in high demand and there never seems to be enough)
6. Look up info on the internet before committing to the procedure!
They almost got my dad today, and as soon as they said error reports, I knew something was up because I received that call a couple of months back. I used caller id and couldn't identify the caller, I googled the number and found that it was a scam. My dad asked the man about it, he, in turn, gave my dad a false phone number and some rubbish about working for microsoft (Caller ID is your friend).- Caller: Scam cover microsoft
- DawnI have also been getting calls from this number... I told him that I wasn't able to talk now and asked for his number so I could call him back at a better time for me. He started giving me a number and hung up after the 5th number he gave me.
- Caller: Tech from Mocrosoft
- swisherWanted to access my computer and that they were with Microsoft and getting messages that we had problems that they could fix. The person had an accent and I knew it was a scam of some sort so I just told I was not interested and hung up. If you try to call this number back it will not connect.
