- Caller: Dept. of legal affairs for US Treasury
- NPThey called twice, and left a message. Caller ID said from West Linn, OR. The message said this is "Sara Johnson" from Department of Treasury, have urgent legal matters. She was very difficult to understand/barely spoke English. Scam. http://www.fincen.gov/alert.html
- MsConstRude| 1 replyFirst of all I could barely understand the guy and he claimed to work for the US Treasury?! I asked for details in this notification he was talking about that I owed on my 2009 federal taxes! After stumbling, he asked if I wanted to be connected to the Dept of Treasury, I said yes, you can tell he just transferred me to probably the guy sitting next to him! I kept insisting on more info, then the guy says you know what? I am going to proceed with the warrant and a marshall will be at your house in two hours, I asked to talk to someone else and he hung up on me! Do they sit there and think, Americans are so dumb and nieve, all they have to do is scare us and we will send them money? How can we file a harrassment charge? These people aren't even in our country! Can anything be done about this? What really bothers me is they have my name, address, etc!

- GsampGot a call from a guy saying he was with the dept of legal affairs US Treasury. Said if owed tags from 2009 and there was a warrant out for the arrest of me and my wife. He transferred me to someone else who explained that we needed to go to Safeway right away and get a money order. Per police this is a scam
- LAinSEACall from 503-882-6790; actually left a voice mail - how stupid are these crooks?
Will forward to law enforcement (like they will have the time and resources to go after these idiots.)
My advice for the scammers:
If you are going to communicate with Americans, learn to speak the language.
Realize that the feds, especially the IRS, never conduct initial business over the phone--they send out registered mail first.
And really, the economy has improved immensely - why not try to make a living the old fashioned way; get a real job and earn your keep!- Caller: Department of the Treasury

These calls are not random. These scammer/extortionists are predators. The person calling you has all your financial information and a lot of personal information. They pick on women, single mothers, the elderly and members of the immigrant community. They are looking for vulnerable people. Which is why you should never return these calls. If they sense any vulnerability on your part, they may hammer you with even more calls. - DaveSame as above. Claimed that I failed to file my taxes, was responsible for payments, an officer tried to stop by, I ignored all previous mail, they would not send any more mail, a warrant would be issued for my arrest. He assured me this was a federal line, I told him IF it was a federal line, then I would like to exercise my right to talk to his supervisor who always are available IF this is a true call. He said a supervisor would call back.
