- JanisFemale caller said she was a paid solicitor calling about breast cancer awareness. I didn't talk to her long enough to know if it was a survey or solicitation for a donation of some type.
- jennunknown caller from the New Orleans, LA area. they did not leave a message. I do not answer calls I do not recognize. I am on the national do not call registry list, therefore, this person is a scam business. Legit businesses follow the law.
- Baton Rouge| 9 repliesA live female caller who said she was trying to solicit donations for breast cancer. She did not give a name of a company or identify a particular organization. I do not know if this is a nonprofit or a complete scam. I asked her where she had got my number from and she said off of a list where they proceed to call everyone in numerical order. I asked where this list came from and she offered to give me an 800 number to call. I declined and told her to please remove me from her list as I know I am already on every do not call list and I did not want to have to file a complaint. She was respectful and said she would. We closed with thank you and have a great day to one another. I did not respond to unsolicited calls for donations. I do feel this was probably a scam call to raise funds because they did not identify a true known organization however the caller was respectful. That is unusual for the unknown calls I answer. Most result in the caller cursing me.
- Caller: ?said for Breast Cancer Donation
- Flo replies to Baton Rouge| 8 repliesI'm telling you, Southerners come across as very polite and respectful, with all that "Yes Ma'am, No Sir" nonsense. All that does is buy them some time to figure out how to screw you over. Yankees beware!
- Southener replies to Flo| 3 repliesYou're insane?! Southerners are nicest people you will ever meet, genuinely!! I hope you don't ever come to THE SOUTH, where we know what true hospitality is. Get a clue you idiot yankee and stay up north.
- Flo replies to Southener| 2 repliesActually I am a Southerner, born and bred. True hospitality exists, yes, even in the North. Southern hospitality is conditioned on polite speech, but their hospitality is not necessarily "true."
- Door2Door replies to FloBefore you pick up a call, check the Caller ID. If you see an area code/name/location you do not recognize, do not pick up the call. Simple.
- 50/50 replies to FloWe are some of the most hospitable people out there, but just don't cross us and you'll get back home in one piece.
- Tom BraumullerRepetitive calls from 504-298-0389 on my cell. Caller ID says it's from Public Appeal.
- KindleI've received two calls in the past week from this number; caller ID listed it as "Public Appeal" both times. 504 is a NOLA area code (I'm in Baton Rouge), so I might've answered were it not for the whole "Public Appeal" thing, which seemed to scream "SALES CALL". (So much for the Do Not Call list, eh?) I didn't answer either call and they didn't leave a message. After reading the comments here, I went ahead and blocked the number.
- Caller: Public Appeal

- BRLady replies to FloHave you been to south Louisiana? I assure you, around here, hospitality is genuine. Other parts of the south may be snobbish but here, we take pride it making newcomers feel comfortable. At least, that's always how it has been in my family.
As far as ANYONE calling to get money from you. Do not trust anyone, southern or not. It doesn't matter how nice they are. You are much better off researching and giving to a local charity. - Jay replies to FloI was born and raised in Chicago but have now lived in Louisiana now for 15 years and trust me the "Yes ma'am, No Sir" is definitely not nonsense. The most polite, genuine and polite people reside in the south....especially in SW Louisiana.
- New Orleans lady replies to FloFlo, all I have to say is "bless your heart".
- RaisedInDixie replies to FloFlo, bless your heart. Please stay up north.
