I just got this call at 10:20 am CT 04-June-08 on my cell phone. It was a recorded message in spanish. Unfortunatly I do not understand spanish well enough to know what the message was saying. This is not the first time I have received this message on my cell phone. The other times I received it from 306-998-4729 and 902-998-7532. The message from these numbers are :25 sec long.
I was called twice today by this number. No message was left. I live in CA, so it beats the heck out of me why a number from NY would be calling. It's not a creditor because I stay on top of my bills. Perhaps the telemarketing calls are starting?
I just received a call from this number at 1:43 EDT. I didn't recoginze the 506 area code, so I looked it up and found it was Canada. I didn't answer, and like everyone else, no voicemail was left.
I hope I don't get called again...if I do, just won't answer it again.
I received a call from this number but didn't answer because I didn't recognize it. My number is about a week old so I thought the call was probably for the former owner of my number. I called from a land line using *67 and it said that the call cannot be completed as dialed. Be careful. I own a company that was hacked into using our phone system. They hijacked our numbers and sold them all over the place. It originated in Pakistan and our number was sold to the Phillipines, Cananda, the UK and other countries. When we finally got it blocked, they went domestic into the US, concentrating on Florida and California. Our monthly bill went from $800 to $54,000. We tried the police, FBI, local task forces, technology companies but no one could figure it out, so we finally had to abandon the numbers. The phone company paid the bill after I went round and round with them for two months.
506-268-4739 Just called, and as another person reported, they were speaking in spanish.
Check this email out I received about certain area codes:
We actually received a call last week from the 809 area code. The woman said 'Hey, this is Karen. Sorry I missed you--get back to us quickly. I have something important to tell you.' Then she repeated a phone number beginning with 809. 'We didn't respond'.
Then this week, we received the following e-mail:
Subject: DON'T EVER DIAL AREA CODE 809 , 284 AND 876
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION PROVIDED TO US BY AT&T. DON'T EVER DIAL AREA CODE 809!
If you call from the US, you will apparently be charged $2425 per-minute.
Or, you'll get a long recorded message. The point is they will try to keep you on the phone as long as possible to increase the charges. Unfortunately, when you get your phone bill, you'll often be charged more than $24,100.00.
WHY IT WORKS:
The 809 area code is located in the British Virgin Islands (The Bahamas). The charges afterwards can become a real nightmare. That's because you did actually make the call. If you complain, both your local phone company and your long distance carrier will not want to get involved and will most likely tell you that they are simply providing the billing for the foreign company. You'll end up dealing with a foreign company that argues they have done nothing wrong.
Take caution with these strange calls you get from unknown area codes.
Just got a call from this phone number on my cell phone. I did not answer and I have not set up the voicemail box, so they couldn't leave a message It is no one I know. I am sure tellemarketing to cell phones is illegal. Who can stop whoever this is?
Got the call twice, 3 hours ago and just now. The first time I was driving and as soon as I heard spanish, I hung up. Second time I never answered and they left no message. Damn crooks!
Just got a call from this number on my cell phone. I answered it. I hung up as soon as I heard Spanish. I hope nothing happends with my cell phone number...???
GOt one of these calls last night. Ignored it. Glad I did. I figure if someone wants to talk to me, they can leave a message and I'll call back. Otherwise I figure it's garbage.
This is the second time I have received a call from these people. The call aborts when voice mail attempts to answer. I don't understand why the number has the + or why it has too many digits.
