I got a call from this number and answered... The guy that was there mispernouced my name and when I told him that I wasnt "michelle" he continued to ask me to repay a pay day loan. "you are responsible for this loan and you need to pay back in 21 days" I told him I never took out a pay day loan and I was not paying. I told him he was a fraud and what he was doing was illegal. He then hung up. I suggest not answering.
I also tried to call the number back and it was disconnected.
He sounds to be from the middle east. He will also be adimate that you have to pay him money. DONT!
When I asked who he was affilated with he did not answer and seemed to not understand.

This may be a version of the advance-fee-for-something scam where something is a grant, loan, scammed-money refund, lottery winnings, interest rate reduction, tax reduction, gift card, refund, doggie, cruise, vacation, free gas, etc., and the advance-fee is for tax, shipping, registration, insurance, secure handling, processing, etc. They may send you a fake check, may want your credit/debit card or bank account number, or tell you to wire cash via Western Union, Moneygram, etc. They can put recurrent difficult-to-cancel monthly charges or a 1-time charge on your card or bank account, and sell account info to other criminals and you'll have to replace accounts altogether. Wired-cash is irretrievable - once it's picked up at the other end, it's untraceable and gone. If they want you to call them up for instructions, they may tell you not to discuss the wire with Western Union desk clerks but the real reason is WU clerks are familiar with these scams and will warn you not to wire the money. THIS IS AN EXTORTION SCAM. Scammers use bought/hacked/phished loan application data to extort payments for fictitious debts from victims and victims' families and friends.

This looks like a 'random access number' for lunatics using a VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol)service to make an anonymous call to plauge people of their choice -- an old boyfriend or girlfriend, someone they want to rob (determining if they're home), working for a collection agency to see who answers the number, etc. Such 'service' companies buy blocks of numbers around the country through which calls can be rerouted, caller ID provided, but the caller may be in the house or apartmeny right next to yours, or in a state far away. Those above appear to all be different callers, calling with varying frequency--only once, or every hour--all with different IDs of themselves, etc. Such numbers can be accessed for one-time usage rates that are billed to the caller's phone bill, but can also be rented exclusively for weeks or months; some of these services hire dummies to answer the phone if called back, giving a different ID each time they pick up (just so you don't start thinking who from your past might be bugging you using the service).

Love it!!!  I will definitely use this tactic & my kids will enjoy doing it.  My 13 year old usually answers the phone with an Indian accent mocking the caller & they always hang up while we get a good laugh :)
