- Flushing GuyGetting calls from them about upgrading my internet speed from Time Warner. Calling ID does not say they are from Time Warner. They want me to set up an appointment for a technician to come in and increase my speed.
- Caller: Does not say, just say they can increase my internet speed.
- Queens dudeGot two calls from them about two weeks apart, both on workdays between 9 and 10 AM. Hung up before I could answer.
- Manhattan Lady| 1 replyGot 3 calls before I answered the 3rd one. Caller said call was from Time Warner and first mistake was addressing me by my first name. In polite society, if not known, one addresses by surname and designation such as Ms. or Mr. According to caller, TW must make upgrades to service which requires a technician to enter my residence and I refused as that made no sense to me. Caller went on to argue that my refusal would mean that my service/reception will be affected as of 4/22/15. Nice try!!!! My response was I pay for a service and if it is interrupted due to TW's inefficiency and such, I will contact them directly to rectify the problem and if I fail, will cancel my service and return all cable boxes and modems and demand a prompt refund of any amounts paid in advance. Further, I will sign up with a different service provider.
Then I called TW directly to inquire, of course there was no such planned upgrades in my building requiring a technician to enter my residence as this is not the way they conduct business. Further, upgrades do not require the checking of cables in one's residence unless you report a problem that has to be reviewed and then if it is determined by TW that they need access. Need a 'call type' - FRAUD!- Caller: Said was Time Warner

- Flushing queens nyc dudeTried to schedule an appointment claiming they were time warner cable. Shady
When I declined the person stated that my house was slowing the network down for the neighborhood and threatened to throttle my internet. - TWC AgentI am a twc agent -- 508-623-2182 is not a TWC number do not give these people any information. I have a lot of customers calling about receiving calls from this number. It's a scam, folks :(
- Forest HillsI got the same call, first on Wednesday and then again today. The caller was obviously reading from a script and when I asked her, "well what equipment is it that the technician has to check?" and she didn't have an answer for me. I called TWC and they said they've been getting a lot of calls like this in the last few weeks. Some have been asking for personal information, so be careful. FYI, I think they need to add "scam" to the call types! OnProcess Technology looks like a legit company, but it's weird that TWC knows nothing about this.
- Caller: OnProcess Technology.
- Call type: Prank
- EricActually, I received a call from this number on 4/30/15 and after a few times of them trying to reach me, I answered. I set up an appointment for this morning, but after reading these posts, I was nervous too that it was indeed, a scam. I got a call from TWC this morning confirming the appointment, but I dodged the call anyway. I called TWC back, however, after receiving two more attempted calls--presuming it was a scam. It took a little while, but Christine was able to confirm the appointment WAS in their system and that I was eligible for a free upgrade in my area. Finally, I confirmed the appointment, and I let the TWC agent come in to check my modem and give me a new universal remote. Lateef - Tech#03240 was professional, knowledgable and had a card with the TWC logo on it and gave it to me. He also had on a legit Time Warner Cable jacket.
I'm not saying it's odd for people to think this was a scam, but they need to be aware that if a number other than the local TWC number shows up, people will be wary. Perhaps they are outsourcing --they need to be more upfront about how they conduct business or they will lose customers.- Caller: Time Warner Cable
- MatthewA caller claiming to represent Time Warner Cable and wanted to set up a "network upgrade" by having a technician visit my home. When they couldn't provide any evidence they were TWC and refused to verify online or over, but then proceeded to ask for personal information I realized the caller was running a PHISHING scam. So I contacted Time Warner's legit customer service, and they said they were investigating a fraud scam using this number, and that it is NOT representative of TWC.
On another website there are lots of people complaining about this number on behalf of "Charter Communications" a rival cable network. And when I called the number back, their automated system said they were from Charter, not TWC. So I think it's safe to assume these are scammers, not cable company representatives.- Caller: On Process Technology
- Gowanus guyMy partner got the same kind of call described above - a woman claiming to be from TWC setting up an appointment for a tech visit. The caller said that the work had to be completed by 5/21 in order to prevent interruption of service. She scheduled an appointment for 5/12.
I checked the My Account page on the TWC website yesterday and saw no record of an appointment. When I called TWC, they did find that there was an appointment scheduled, but the first person I spoke to couldn't tell me what it was for and suggestion I ask the tech when they arrived. I told them I wanted to know the reason for the visit before hand, and was transferred to another rep.
The new rep said that the visit was to diagnose problems with a connection, and seemed genuinely surprised that we hadn't requested it ourselves. We also checked to see if someone else in the building had requested it, which they hadn't. They had no knowledge of an update happening on 5/21. Since there's nothing currently wrong with my connection, we canceled the appointment and I haven't heard back from TWC or the original caller.
So if this is a scam I'm having trouble figuring out what the object is. My partner says they didn't try to get any confirming personal info when they scheduled the appointment, and the person calling already knew both phone numbers associated with our TWC account. And based on Eric's account above and my discussion with TWC, it sounds like the appointment being scheduled is with an actual TWC tech. Maybe the techs are scheduling the appointments through a third party for some reasons of their own - possibly to improve their numbers? Or, to indulge my paranoid side a bit, maybe they're scouting for a real estate company? - Jen replies to Manhattan LadyHad the same exact thing happen to me. I refused to give them any information.
- JimD| 1 replyDialed my cell phone which is on DNC list. Good sign that they're fraudsters.
Hung up before my voice mail could kick in. Robo-caller is impatient. - jb replies to JimDDNC list is exactly where the fraudsters get their numbers. Its a free list to get thousands of real numbers. Nice going FCC. They are already doing illegal schemes so whats another felony to them.

- sammyI received a phone call from 508-623-2182 stating how he is from Time Warner and there will be a network update on 20th how they need to schedule an appointment. I thought it was fishy from how he greeted me and pronouncing my name and background was very silent and then when I said no thank you and he tried saying that the setting my not work and I might loose my cable I knew that was just a big scam. I said no thanks if I have any issues I will call. I called Time Warner customer service and the girl I spoke to said that they do not make phone calls for that and if there was an update I will receive an email or a notation on my bill. SCAM...... I do not usually answer my phone from strange numbers but I thought let me answer. ugh
