    Be careful with this one. It is a scam. He will threaten you and call you repeatedly at home on cell at work and eve your boss. It happened to me yesterday. Thick middle eastern accent named Ben Rogers. Threatening and demanding money but will not send written verification as to who I owe and says I will be arrested if I dont pay. Very nasty. Says I owe money but wont say how much. I have reporetd it to both the FTC and the State Attorney General.

    Today I have received 5 calls from this number at my office and another 12 to my home voice mail.  The person on the other end of the line "John" also with a middle eastern accent stated that he was calling because of a complaint against me, my ssn and also had my current bank account information.  He also called me a liar, fraud and stated that I am a criminal.  I asked for a supervisor and was hung up on.  After calling back I found that this is a "collections" company for an online "fly by night" high interest lender.  Knowing that I have never done business with any of the sort I asked for documentation proving that I had received a funds transfer.  I was then told that my attorney would need to be contacted so that the information could be provided. ????  Scam..  yes!  Strong arm tactics trying to get people to pay out money to avoid being arrested or charged with something.. yes!!  I also contacted the FTC and State Attorney Generals office (both my home state and Mass)

    Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
    Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

    Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

    Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

    Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

    Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

    3-19-12 and 3-20-12 he is using the name Ben Gold.  We are a business - he calls at least 20 times a day.  We have told him to stop calling, he states he will do what ever it takes to get a hold of this person.  He has threatened to call authorities on us since we will not pass on information. He will have us arrested.   We reported to the FTC.  There are already reports on this guy.

    3-20-12 he is using the name Mike Damien.  Strong middle eastern accent.  Called our place of business - which is a hospital - looking for an employee -- made 122 calls in a 2 hour time frame.  Verbally abusive to our operators, threatening.  Told me that if the employee calls him back he promises to stop calling our number.  Will be reporting to the FTC.

    A Monte Harrison from this number is calling me repeatedly.  Will not tell me who he is with, threatening to get me fired from my job, calling my employer.  I work for a hospital and this person threatened the operator at the hospital twice before she started hanging up on him.  I asked him who he is with and he said, "If I tell you who I am with, will you tell me what I need to know?"  I hung up on him and he kept calling back.  He has a foreign accent and is just nasty to me and I have no idea who he is supposed to be working for.  He says he needs information and I own them money.  I don't have any unpaid debts and do not know what he is talking about.

    Happened to me, he was going by the name of Steve Hogan, sadly I had paid some money.  My bank fraud department has the info.  I asked them if I could speak to whomever was running the scam!  They don't have any recourse, they are just trying to bully people that are trying to get through this life and do it honestly!

    I am constantly being harassed on my cell phone.  This person by the name of Jerry Hartman calls and tells me that I must call him back and that there is a legal issue against me in Mass.  and they have my social security number and if I do not call back then I can be arrested.  He says that he is trying to help me.  He gave a case number for me and said it is important to call him back immediately or I will suffer the consequences.  I get these calls every day and into the evening.  I am feeling harassed and angry.  I can barely understand him as he seems to have an accent from India.
