Caller left a voice message with his ID as Officer David Caldwell (?) of the Crime Investigation Department regarding a Legal Affidavit in his hand with our name and under investigation. His message sounds real and needs call back since the legal action will proceed immediately. Individual while leaving message pretends to be real Officer and leaves his phone number twice with his name. Last name is not clear since the accent is quiet heavy and sounds phony.

Phony Caller left a voice message my wife called back thinking reporting to the local police. A phony caller with his ID as Officer David Caldwell (?) of the Crime Investigation Department regarding a Legal Affidavit in his hand with our name and under investigation. His message sounds real and needs call back since the legal action will proceed immediately. Individual while leaving message pretends to be real Officer .

We also received a phone call from this number 509-214-2673 that mimics all the stories above. These people names themselves and "Anita Patel" and "Tejash Patel" from NJ.  They are Indians who speak the language Gujarati.  They are definite scam artists.  From what area or if they are in the country, we are not sure.

They obviously are stupid and probably don't monitor any blogs such as this.  My suggestion would be that someone try to get the email address that is asociated with this Magic Jack number and then try to contact Magic Jack or log into their account with that associated email account.  That way more information can be learned about the particular account.

Received the call just now. Same story .. have you heard from local Police dept. We have claim against you in legislative dept. etc. We need to record the info. Very indian /heavily accented voice. I hung up ...

same call received with heavy accent. said the same investigation nonsense. Then she says I am officer from State Dept. and talk to my supervisor,,,I told her I know you are fake....so she put the phone down.

Call came from this number claiming to be from IRS. Demanded payment of at least $350 to settle a fake tax debt not owed. Said if didn't pay, they'd send someone out to pick them up. Totally bogus. Stay away and don't give out personal or financial info over phone.

I got one after another say about seven calls from this number. First on home phone and then on cell phone. Definately Indian and scam artist.  Once I picked up same story like we have case against you ect.

Received a call from 509-214-2673.  The caller had a heavy accent and pretended to call from State Investigation Department.  STOP MAKING PHONY CALLS!!!!

I too received similar call from 509-214-2673, I let them know that I knew that they are fake. misuse of technology tool such as Magic Jack which lets you make call from internet and hide anywhere in the world making these scam calls should be control some how..

Don't they know that the device have a unique ID and that it's registered at whichever internet provider service they use and could be tracked down to a individual?? Guess they think they are too far form any government agency to act on them..

But these screamers should be stopped, I can see them taking advantage of some unsuspecting folks...Government should really crack down on them, since it should be relatively easy to track them down.. with today's globalization they should be collaborating with different agencies across the world to bring these criminals to justice..

Got the same call - very heavy Asian accent - left a voice message - I called back but got a message - officer Crystal from State Department of Las Vegas ... got my name wrong also. Real dumb ass.

I also called the FTC(1-877-383-4375) and file a complain, everyone who got this type of call should file a complain with FTC, more we complains, there is more chance that something could be done..

Officer Crystal Brown called regarding a legal matter. what a thick phony accent. These guys should
be behind bars. They are harassing using different phone #'s. Do not fall for this scan. No one who is an officer
of the law would address himself as officer. these guys are humbug.

These idiots called us from the same number 509-214-2673. First the woman Crystal Brown and then she gave the phone to this man John Mackenzie, who claims himself to be the chief investigation officer. Just put these fellows behind bars. They are disturbing and harassing people and taking their precious time.

I too received a call from the same number above and it's very harrasing, I agree they should be behiend the vars.

I just got the same call.  They ask for my husband I asked who it was she said state police dept. Indian accent very heavy couldn't understand her. Finally I hung up. Thank you for this blog helping consumer understand these kind of scam calls.

I talked to person knowing that this a phony call. Told person that I am also recording the call.. did not take long for the person on other side to hang up...LoL

I received a phone call from them yesterday and I did call back to find out about it and the lady was very vague and didn't know what she was doing. When I asked her name she got nervous and gave me her name as Kalvina Smith. I looked up this blog while I was talking to her and immediately after telling her name she hung up. Thanks to this blog I could recognize that it was a scam.

Just got a call from this number -said we had to send in IRS arrears to a certain address in Washington--funny, we thought, the IRS asking money to be sent to a private address. They hung up.
