Received a robo-call from this number today, saying I was being sued by the IRS. Checked this board and other numbers from this area code and exchange are also scams, also saying being sued by IRS. If I was being sued by the IRS, I would have received a letter. SCAM

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

I got the same calls this morning.  One early, around 7am, left a message that the IRS was suing me for fraud.  When they called again, I answered and was directed by the recording to call this number.  I did and a guy with a heavy Indian accent said he was an agent and read a supposed two page affidavit.  I was completely caught off guard, but when I didn't ask the guy any questions and told him I had no idea what he was talking about, he said he was sending a sheriff and IRS agent to arrest me...  I had confirmed the address at the beginning of the call (it was an old address, not even in the state I've been living in for a couple years.)

Recieved a call with recorded message saying IRS is suing me and that I must respond immediately . Got a call earlier from a local number. They also identified themselves as IRS agents. And told me I had 45 minutes to pay , that I was not to hang up but that I was to proceed to my bank , to not hang up and send them 2500 dollars.

Called me twice today, automated recording left a message both times. Scam impersonation of the IRS to get your personal information. This one is not new and typically surfaces around tax season. The IRS will never call you, you will receive physical mail.

I received 2 calls today, I confronted them and told them I had my attorney on the other line, they said that's fine.  I told them if they ever call me again I WILL SUE THEM FOR FRAUD!  It's a scam, I've already notified my friends on FB and my Mother, relatives, etc.

It is a scam, but if you call and confront them, they block you. Hopefully, I will not receive any more calls.

I looked the number up first to look for possible scam and it brought me here. So I called back and he asked for a claim number, and for my name. He then asked for someone else, I didn't catch the name, but wasn't me. He then said he "must have the wrong number".

Three calls today from robo-caller stating with IRS, final notice, civil suit will be filed, must call 509-228-8641. Since this is only our vacation home and landline isn't associated with any of our filings, it is clearly a scam...for so many other reasons too.
