Woke me up at 7:30 - no message - caller ID "International".

called an left a half garbled message about some account.... don't answer or call them back

I just got that one too.

I just got a garbled automated voice tell me that the IRS has been trying to reach me and they are filing a lawsuit against me and to call this number back. I tried calling it but just get a dial tone.

You cannot call the number back because it is spoofed. These are criminal extortionists operating in overseas boiler rooms using VOIP to alter their identities and locations and out of the reach of US law enforcement.

If someone calls saying he's an IRS agent and demands that you send money immediately, hang up.
It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.

By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.

Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.

They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.

Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.

The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.

If you get what you suspect is a scam call, report it to TIGTA through its Web site or call 800-366-4484.

Ii just got this same garbled phone call and decided to google it when I could not get a person on the phone. The IRS will contact you through the US mail only.

got call from this number  in SPOKANE, WASHINGTON, stating It is the IRS and there is a law suit to be filed against me. Did not call back. Google brought me to this website.

Didn't leave a company name, but spam/phishing call about a lawsuit by the IRS. IRS doesn't call about things like that.

Received a call stating it was the IRS and they were going to file a law suit. Thought it was kind of fishy and called back to make sure. Sure enough, no one answered. I will report this with TIGTA.

I received the same exact message this is crazy the elderly would be scared and call back and lose everything!!

I received a call from the "IRS" stating that they were filing a lawsuit and that i needed to call 509-315-3020 immediately. When I tried to call them the number was busy. Poor people calling and those people on the other end are horrible people to take peoples money they worked hard for. They need to be stopped.

I got a call this morning from 509-315-3020. Voice recorded saying it the IRS and they are filing lawsuit against me and that I need to call them.  I immediately thought this is SCAM... IRS would send a letter in the mail. .  These jerks need to be stopped, evil people.

I just received a call as well, it was an automated system about "IRS is filling a lawsuit against you, please call, 509 315 3020"

Just received this scam call. I didn't answer it.
