a recorded message told me the ITS is filing a lawsuit against each. I was to call the number back but calling back does not connect me with anyone.

I got a call from the same number threatening a lawsuit from IRS

Same number called me with the same message about the IRS is filing a lawsuit against "you", but never said my name.

The same as other posts.  Recorded message telling me they have been trying to reach me yet my phone does not show any other calls.  The message goes on to say the IRS is filing a law suite against me and tells me to call this number.

June 25 received a call from this number Caller ID states it is from Washington State, the mechanical recorded message states the IRS is filing a suit - and to call them back - wow - unbelievable scam.

Just got a call saying same thing scam

Same call.  Recorded message states the IRS is filing a lawsuit against me. They have been trying to get a hold of me. This is their last attempt.

Just got the same call threatening an IRS lawsuit. Number showed up very strangely on my phone's caller ID, not like that of a normal phone number.

Just recvd a call from 5093204239 stating from the IRS that this is the last attempt to contact. And return call when u call the line is busy.

Same as other reports, recording... IRS if filing a law suite against you....

Wow! I thought it was actually the IRS. I called the number back, but it's actually a scam wow!

I got the same message, the IRS is filing suit against me.

Same as others, IRS filing suit against me and final attempt to me.  Called back, says number incorrect.

I received the same message and reported it to the TIGTA.

I received a call from this number

The recording was the same as others above - " This is IRS - have been trying to reach you and this is the last call.  "IRS is Filing a law suit against you..."

If we all have received the same call, who is it from and what is the scam.  I don't want to wait for months to find out how I've been hacked.  I want to be proactive!

There is a widespread IRS (or CRA) or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both USA and Canadian residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.
