Robocall delivered by computer-generated voice with thick accent. Message was the IRS had been repeatedly trying to contact us and this was the "final" call before a lawsuit would be filed against us. Instruction was to "call department immediately on 509-588-1409" (the number matched the caller ID. Note the caller ID said Benton City WA ... and the IRS does not make these kinds of calls, it sends letters ... AND it provides a toll-free phone number and a case number.

Whatever happened is between the "caller" and my fax machine.    Keep calling my fax number and we will be OK.  These criminal tools are too low to step on.   Hope you get to sleep in the gutter tonight where you belong.

Received that call today.  I called IRS.  They said its a scam, likely from overseas.  They are using many different numbers to call different states.  Do Not Respond they said and they are investigating.

Called and left VM - same as all accounts above. Said they were IRS and trying to reach us and to call the number
immediately. It is a scam. (It's too early for the IRS game, anyway).

Caller (with a thick East Indian accent) identified himself as a Windows Technician. When I challenged him for his Microsoft certification number, He read a number off quickly. I asked him his name and he identified himself as Jeff. I asked if I could call him back and he gave me the number 509-588-1409. I did call back and someone (with a thick East Indian accent) answered and said they were with Microsoft in Redmond, Washington and some illegal activity had been traced to my computer. He said he would help me fix it but what he wanted me to do was go to a web site that would give him unrestricted access to my computer. When I asked for Jeff he demanded my name and when I told him they should know because they called me first, he hung up. I can't believe law enforcement can't track this scam down (the phone number is legit) and put these scammers out of business.
    • Caller: Jeff from Microsoft
