Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.- Caller: Informational Post - IRS Scam
- Call type: Debt collector
- Elizabeth Hankins| 2 repliesI receive this call several times a day. I politely asked them to remove me from the calling list. They have cussed at me, laughed at me, and hung up on me before putting me on the Do Not Call list. I am notifying my phone company, and reporting it to the police. I would appreciate any assistance in rectifying the matter.
- Caller: Us department of grants?
- Call type: Telemarketer
- JustinCase replies to Elizabeth HankinsEasiest way is to completely ignore unknown numbers, even with an answering device. You'll hear nothing but a ringing phone that way. Don't waste your breath telling them to remove you from your list, you just as well be talking in a different language since that's a nonexistent line in theirs. Not answering their calls eventually makes them mad because they've got one less participant. Refer to Tamianth's posts also, good advice there.
- katget this call almost every day, I answered today, I was eating my sandwich, I said hello with my mouth full asking "wat'sup", it hung up!
I then googled the number sure enough I knew it was some crock call.- Caller: Spokane Washington
- BrianNon native English speaker offering some kind of government benefit. Calls everyday despite being told there is NO WAY I am going to do any business with them, insulting him, knowing it's a scam, getting a nonsense answer as to why he keeps calling, etc. Totally sick in the head scammer with nothing better to do. All this because I used a grocery coupon site. The NSA monitors all calls, I'm on the national and state DO Not Call List, and this type of crime is still rampant -useless government and law enforcement.
- KFBI saw the number, didn't recognize it & didn't pick up. I just use this site to check numbers. In any case, I have contacted the FTC regarding similar scam calls. I have been on the Do Not Call list for years. They said that they cannot do anything about the scam calls & the DNC list, but if enough people report them, they can compile a list. Apparently, with enough complaints, they can take action. So file those complaints.
- Caller: Didn't recognize number, didn't pick up.
- StacyReceive several calls a day from this number saying I will get a free government grant if I give them my social security number an d other personal information.
- Caller: Government agency
- Call type: Prank
- Suzie| 2 repliesHave this number on my caller id at least 12x per day. Answered it tonight and the person on the line asked for me by name. Told them she was not available and they started cussing at me calling me a liar. The person then proceeded to say he was my fiancee as starting singing love songs. WTH?
- Caller: Didnt give a name
- Cindycalled my business asking for an employee, who happened to be sick. Told them this was a business do not call. They have called twice since asking for same person.
- Caller: unknow
- Jenni W replies to Elizabeth HankinsElizabeth I've been getting so many calls from them and finally installed a call control app, but I can still see them calling. When I asked the caller what state they were calling from, the caller said Washington D.C. (this is after severl calls saying they were a government grant), and I told them no-- you're calling from Washington STATE and that I would report them to the FBI. The next time they called, I asked what state, and the caller (a male) said "Pakistan." When I asked what he wanted he laughed a little and said "To destroy you" and I said "whatever, Pakistan" and hung up. It did scare me a little but this was after a tiny back and forth about what kind of scam they were pulling.
I have still been getting the calls, however. I just thought my story would help you a bit. I am researching how best to report it now. - Jenni W replies to Suziehow does this guy have time to call so many of us all day? Truly a little off. I can't remember but I may have gotten a female voice before as well. I think the same scammers have used several numbers-- I must have accidentally clicked something recently that made several car insurance companies call me at once then put my name and number out there for these jokers to get ahold of... I am so annoyed. But anyway, read above-- the caller told me he was from Pakistan.
