Irs tax scam

I got a call from this number claiming that I'm a criminal and that I owe the federal government back taxes. He read me an affidavit and said I have 2 options. 1 being I have 90 minutes to get the money out and purchase bonds and he'll give me the address to deliver the bonds to. 2, I can get an attorney and take it to court. He said I have a warrant out for my arrest and will be taken in immediately if I choose the take it to court option. I wanted to get off the phone and talk to a third party about this and he said I can't do that... He had an Indian accent. I immediately thought it wasn't right so I hung up and he kept calling back and I didn't answer. This is a horrible scam, I hope these people get caught and put in jail for trying to deceive people out of their money.

Yesterday it have got a call from the same guy. He called himself Chris Martin and spoke with thick accent. Scam!

One of my tax client got a call from the same number with the same threats. I called the number back and yes - it is an IRS impersonation scam. They are very aggressive and rude and speak with a heavy accent. If you ask for their IRS employee number they are prepared and will give you one. And when you start making fun of them or threaten to report them to FBI and the police they hang up immediately. I already reported  the incident to the Treasury Inspector General online. Judging by the IRS warning on this scam - a lot of people are getting those scam calls. So, just keep in mind that IRS does not call - IRS sends letters. They do not send police to arrest you if you owe them taxes - they freeze your bank accounts and place liens on your property after they have send you at least 3 letters -some by certified mail. If you get any of these calls - have some fun with the callers, pretend you are scared and will do what they are asking and than hang up and go on with you life. Today I received a call from this same number. He stated I owe federal taxes and that if I had a lawyer to represent me at court. He had and Indian accent. They are very direct and they can intimidate you. Do report this to the IRS

It's a scam.  Don't answer the phone, talk to them or give them any info.

this number call me twice a day.. so annoying!!! they said its a criminal and IRS tax problem.. Indian accent  AND I HATE THEM WHEN THEY TALK FAST.. DON'T GIVE ANY INFO FOR THESE SCAM INDIAN! MONEY STILLER.. I HOPE POLICE WILL CATCH THESE DUMB!

These calls are actually coming from India and there's not much hope of that unless India co-operates with the US..

Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

I just received a call and he has a strong voice ,he threatened me and he said "you have to pay 2364$ by the end of this day otherwise tomorrow We will arrest you " He is a federal officer . Actually he is a spam and try to trap those whom are not familiar with US Laws .

Be aware in this scam! my  wife call me about this on her work and she was scared and she almost walk out on her job because on this indian scamer that they dont even know  that their [***] accent its too bad to pretend that they are working in the goverment they must to get them the way they doing is not right stilling money to the people..

Some jerk who can't English we'll has been calling all week stating my husband as a warrant out for his arrest and he needs to call 509 671 9361 and give him money.  I phoned the number and get get a hold of anyone just a voice mail

I got Zillion calls from them. They are getting aggressive and this is the second number that they use with me ( I blocked their previous number). First time it was 18000 and now they are down to 2800 LOL and if I didnt pay them ASAP they will send and officer to arrest me. LOL
I reported them. I feel sorry for older people who might believe them :((((

Thank you all for blogging!  the information you posted was helpful to me and I'm sure others will appreciate it!
I too, got a message as well saying that he was from the IRS, didn't give his name, and  that there are incidents with the IRS and that you owe the IRS.  The man also said, "not to ignore this call", they have a warrant for my arrest. Then the man with a very stern voice (non-Indian speaking) said to call back (509}671-9361, .  
I really didn't get it because, my phone is a non-published number, the account is in care of several names,, and they didn't give a name as to whom, in particular they were addressing.  People like this give the IRS a bad name!  I'm sure people at the IRS got it bad already!  They deal with on  have their own issues on a day to day basis! HAVE FUN with them don't send them a penny...or give out your personal information!

I received a call from 509-671-9361 on August 26th at 5:44pm. the caller id showed a number 800-829-1040. They left a message stating that he was calling from the irs office that I have  4 federal & criminal allegations against me and this is a time sensitive matter & I was urged to call them at the 509 number other wise they were going to put out a warrent out for my arrest. I did call the number the next morning & got a message saying I reaached the irs office & that I should leave my information on the message & someone would contact me. All I said was they have the wrong person because I just recently changed my number and they must be looking for the previous person who had this number. I called my phone company and they searched the number and said it was a irs scam and for me to file a complaint with the fcc.

I received a pre recorded message that this was the final call from the IRS as they have been trying to reach me regarding
a  lawsuit against me. Looked up this 509 area code and saw all the posts re: IRS scam..well add another one.

Am going to call the IRS to find out what they are doing about this, if anything.

Same, IRS suing me and if I don't pay by today going to jail.
