Virginia resident received call on answering machine from 1.509.790.0539 June 17, 2015, 2:01p.m. from Sunnyside WA threatening a lawsuit from IRS and to call that number for more info on the "case file". Did not answer call.

What a crock!  We have been audited by the IRS in the past and know how it works.  I caught them on everything they said.  They finally hung up on me!  (I guess they couldn't handle the reverse stress).

Also received a telephone call from 509-790-0539 (Sunnyside, WA) on June 17, 2015.  It was an automated message saying the IRS is initiating a lawsuit against us and to call them back.  Of course, I immediately knew it was a scam but my husband freaked out a little bit.

These scams are so dumb.

Received multiple calls from 5097900539 stating IRS was initiating a lawsuit. If I had to call the IRS I would have been given a 1800 number not a regular landline, and it wouldn't be answered by what sounded like a laundromat with multiple non native english speakers.

Message on answering machine about IRS lawsuit, I called back using another phone number and the guy answered on the 2nd ring, clearing his throat and saying "Internal Revenue Service". Anyone who has ever called the IRS knows that you always have to go through an automated system to talk to someone, you never get a person at their desk when you call in. I just hung up.

Received calls from this idiots 5097900539. That are a bunch of scammers calling from India using the internet. I spoke to one at length and it became abusive after 3 minutes. I let them lead me on until I found out more. That all spoke in Hindi and were based in Delhi. They are not going to stop as our governments hands are tied as to where this scammers are and use of on line phone.

Caller ID said number was 509-790-0539 from Washington DC, I let it go to voice mail.  Automated message saying the IRS was initiating a lawsuit.  Googled the phone number and saw all these same claims...

My brother received a call from 509-790-0539 Sunnyside Washington.  Did not answer it but let it go to the answering machine.  The message was that the IRS was filing a lawsuit against him.  My brother has a traumatic brain injury and requires 24 hour care.  He heard the message and got really agitated and it took me a really long time to reassure him that this call was from scammers and that he was fine.
Can't somebody stop this bottom feeders!!

Same experience with this number- I received 2 calls, both times they left the same message- I called back blocking my number and it did not ring it went to a scrambled busy signal- (my guess is if they do not get a caller ID number it will not go through) There is no way possible IRS would be looking for me, but I would like to find a way to stop all this scam calls-

A call blocker may be a place to start, or if you'd rather not spend any money, blocking unknown numbers or shutting down answering devices and letting the phone ring is free. They can't afford to keep calling numbers that have no answers for long since no profit is made off blanks.

My call came today from Grandview Washington, 509-203-4861 and they used a pre-recorded clear voice to leave a message indicating I am being sued by IRS.  I called back and the guy said that his name was John Smith and it was concerning my taxes from 2008 and 2013. His accent was so sharp I asked him to slow-down so that I could maybe understand, he said let me get my supervisor and he came back on with the word "WHAT?" He gave me a case file number and I asked why I had not received anything in writing and he said that they could have an officer deliver it to me in 30 minutes. He kept repeating that the call was being recorded as if that would give the call validity. I hung up after letting them know that I was going to report them for this shameful scam.
