Calls several times a day for weeks. Can't call them back...you get a "No none is available to take your call...goodbye" message.

Receive a couple of calls from this number claiming that it is the San Antonio Express News. When you call back, receive message that no one is available to take your call.

Got a call from this number at 11:23AM. I didn't answer. They left a voicemail but it was only 5 seconds long and they didn't say anything but I heard some background noise. Haven't tried to call them back. I don't what them to know my number is valid.

Oh, and my phone says the call came from East San Francisco Bay Area.

I signed up for a trial newspaper delivery with the Houston Chronicle.  I called to cancel and every since I've been receiving annoying calls from this number.  I finally had them blocked and they stopped calling.

I had the same experience as stephanie. They've called twice today and I didn't sign up for anything. I don't even live on the west coast. Or anywhere close to Texas. I blocked them using my iPhone so hopefully I won't have to deal with it.

The call several times in one day 1040 again At 1100am and then at 2pm leaving no VM. My girlfriend called them back but only states that "nobody is available to answer your call". California caller to Arizona .....

In Arizona the state prison complexes when calling our it will come up as restricted or private. However, many of these mentioned calls such as 510-454-5288 could be an inmate who has had a cell phone smuggled in and is either passing time (prank calling) or trying to find a sugar mama or daddy ... just FYI

I got this call after 8PM. No voice mail and I dont answer calls I dont recognize! !!

It's from the Gannett newspapers who own many papers around the country.  If you cancel your subscription, etc., they keep bugging you to resubscribe.  They don't take NO for an answer.

I got a call from 510-454-8255 today @9:28 am.

I don't know who it is, but I am supposed to be on the No Call list. What happened to No Call?

Thanks for the info. I'm too broke to subscribe to a newspaper, thanks to the candidates this paper supported, so I consider calls from newspapers to be harrassment.

You are right. Recently cancelled my Seattle Times subscription,then the phone calls started.Thanks for solving the mystery.

do not call lists are a joke.   you are wasting your time.   I get on it every 3 months for last several years and still calls come through.  

Did you subscribe to a newspaper?  If you did, the DNC would be invalid as you have/had an "interest" in the newspaper.

I have a feeling it is the Hearst Corporation, which is based out of San Francisco and owns lots of News Papers, among other things. I recently canceled my subscription from the Houston Chronicle, and they call 3x a week...I eventually requested they put me on a do not call list, and then these annoying calls started.

Hearst corporation owns the news papers for Houston, San Francisco, Seattle, San Antonio (these are just a few examples based on previous comments in this forum)

I receive calls from this number each week. (And yes, recently cancelled my subscription to the AZ Republic...)

I too have signed up for the Houston Chronicle and cancelled out the service because they couldn't get the delivery down. Guess they sold our information...GREAT

I have a current subscription to the AZ Republic but am still getting calls. Yesterday they call, missed it, no VM. Today they called, I picked up in 1 ring and they hung up. At least it's not the GO Green Campaign!
