- Sara| 2 repliesThere is an India Lady that keep calling my workplace being rude but refusing to geive much information yet wanting me to give them money . THIS IS A SCAM!
- Caller: legal Services
- Call type: Debt collector
- Alfalfa replies to Sara| 1 replyThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
•is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
•refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
•asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
•exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
•Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
•Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
•Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
•Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

- Scam busterThis is global solutions... Hahaha. No. It's actually a woman who give a different name every time, and changes her accent. The first time she sounded Jamaican, second time she sounded asian and claimed to be a supervisor before finally reverting back into an indian like accent. She threatened to send the cops to my house to arrest me for not paying my husbands bill, of which I have no recollection. So pretty much she just made something up. Somehow she had the last four of his social, but god only knows if it was something I gave her years ago? Or if she had info from somewhere else. I want her arrested. The calls have gone on for years, always threatening me, and when I asked for an address so I could send her a cease and desist letter, she hung up on me.

- lidia| 1 replythey keep calling my work wanting my bank info and I keep requesting information all the guy can give me is arrow and nco who in the hell are they I don't know so I looked them up they are both collection agencies. I call each one and asked if they have this # 510-544-0797 working for them or if I have an outstanding account with them. they said no to both things so these people are just trying to find someone to give up there info. I told they guy you know what I'm going thru a debt consolidation if you want to get paid you need to go thru them and I gave him there #. he said well it sounds like you are refusing to pay so I will forward it to the attorneys and have them handle it. I said very well I will be waiting for there letter in the mail. little do they know they have an address from over 10yrs ago and I just filed bk 2yrs ago. and from what the courts told me all stuff older them 2011 will be erased and you will not be liable for it. these people are [***] if they are going to get anything out of me and if I truly owed this money why cant they send me a freaking email with the info I requested and I would of paid it in a heartbeat but he refused so I will refuse as well. good luck suckers trying to squeeze orange juice out of a coconut.

- darlene replies to aiyannaYes....they call themselves global solutions....I have had threats that they are coming on my job to serve me with papers and to my house. They give a time when they call my job. They say they'll be there around 4pm. And they just will give me what I ask for and that's proof. I am truly tired of this. And it's always a man. For the other calls it's a foreign woman. They are terrible. They told me the loan amount was for I think he said for $250 back in 2007 and now it's over $3000 dollars. I said can u tell me what was the interest rate...He goes I don't have that info. I told him please do not call my job anymore. Going forward....I will be writing down names. I don't answer at home if it's a weird number. At work my calls aren't screened. It's a shame.
