SCAM trying to steal senior citizen info..  be careful

caller ID says "local" - no message.  Looked it up & its California - not even close to local for us.  Bah, humbug!

Called my elderly relative with Alzheimer's yesterday, saying they were Jessica from AARP Medical Alert, and they could send her $3,000.  She didn't understand, and asked them to call back so she could give them my phone number; they never called back.  Phone shows she talked to them for 11 minutes; she says she didn't give them any information; let's hope that's the reality.

One of the best gifts you can give individuals who are especially vulnerable to telemarketers or telescammers (i.e., individuals who are elderly, intellectually-challenged, or who have memory problems) is a call-blocking device, which can be easily installed on a landline.

The scammer did not leave a message on our answering machine.
Our numbers are in the Do-Not-Call Registry.

510-699-6383 called, phone I.D. said cell phone from Calif. I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message.  Probably a SCAM.

They recalled after I hung up.
They lied about being referred by my doctor.

Phone number id said Local.  Certainly not!  Did not answer.  Rang through to our voice mail system.  No message left.

Ah, the daily requisite SPAM phone call.  Came in while I was out, so could not pick up/hang up w/o answering to break the call and, hopefully, 'confuse' the robodialer.  No message left.  Like others, CID said "LOCAL" even though we are on the OPPOSITE coast from them!

Funny thing is, we are not old enough for Medicare!  HOW are they getting the names/numbers to target people?  Its not likely 'random'; (None of our other numbers are getting these calls!)

They called here but did not leave a message. It did show the location as California.

Insisted that they had to speak to me about medical insurance.  Told them I was not interested and they went into a script and finally just hung up and they had the nerve to call back and I hung up on them.
