    Save yourself a call--
    1. Spoofing 911 is a crime!
    2. Claiming to be an attorney if you are not is a crime.
    3. Claiming to be the attorney general is also a crime.
    4. Making threats (arrest) is a crime - and you are not warned in advance.

SUGGESTION - contact you state attorney general & file a report about this call.

This is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  They also use the “process server” who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number.  Now why would a “process server” want to do you, a stranger, a favor, and at the same time not get paid to deliver the papers?

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

I received the same call as well. I am in California. The man  had an Indian accent. I could hear a bit of background noise, making it sound as if he was in a call center. At first I was freaked out. But then I thought "what a second I do not have bills that I am that behind in, which would cause my creditors to initiate such a call". So, I turned to the internet in attempt to look up the phone # to see what company it belongs to. I then found this open forum. I feel better seeing all of your comments. I had not answered the phone directly, it went to my voice mail. In the message the man tells me that I need to call Attorney General Andrew Thompson (not sure if that is the exact spelling of the name) or I will be arrested. He actually said, "A lawsuit has been filed against you. If you do not call back, you will be arrested tonight". I see the post from BigA whom shared the link for the State Attorney General Offices. Thank you BigA. I will take that step.

received the exact same call, from the same Indian sounding man, telling me the same thing. I was kind of worried until i remembered I hadn't committed any  crimes and had never been to Texas, which is where these calls are directing you to call. The thing that kind of scared me was that it showed the call came from 911 on my caller ID. Then i saw it had a + in from of the 911 (+911), and that they didn't seem to know my name. but this forum really put me at ease. I debating whether to pursue this matter wiuth my attorney general, in Washington state

I received a call today from a recording saying I was to call 512-215-6215 before getting arrested.   Obviously a scam!  My husband recently went to a company supposedly to fix our credit.  He decided not to sign with the company, but he already had our #s.  We're wondering if anyone else has been to a credit repair company.  We're wondering if they are related.......

I did not answer this call, as I have been getting calls already from supposed process servers.  They left a voice mail stating I would be arrested in 40-45 minutes if I didn't call back.  I sent the number to my reject list in my phone.  I do not owe any money to anyone and I know this is a scam.  The key is to know your rights!  Legitimate collection agencies do not make threatening phone calls to you.  They send you letters and call occasionally to try to make arrangements for you to pay back the debt.  It is illegal for them to threaten or attempt to intimidate you.  Registering a complaint is a wonderful thing to do, but the problem is that they have so many different phone numbers that they use, I am sure that the complaints are hard to investigate.  The most important thing is to remember that even if a debt is owed, you will not be locked up for owing it!  We do not have debtor's prisons!

Andrew Thomas from Attorney Generals office(didn't advise which one-52 of them) said I was going to be getting arrested by the end of the day if I did not call back because of some lawsuit.  I called him back and he hung up after I gave him an ear full, and I was not pleasant.  What a scam, could hear other telecom people talking.
