- Shannon| 1 replyComputer message about wanting to give me a credit card terminal.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- SaraCalls and leaves no message. When I answer it is a computer offering a "free" credit card machine. This is a legitimate sales call, but an unsolicited one. We recently applied for a "Sales Tax Certificate" with the state and were quickly inundated with unsolicited calls for businesses. I emailed the State Comptroller and they were able to remove our phone number from the public files and suggested that I register my number with the "Do Not Call" registry... (which we have done, but perhaps the three year time frame has elapsed).

- nedra| 3 repliesThis is one of MANY phone numbers associated with this company. Contact the State Attorney General's office & file a complaint. Then contact your local Senator & file a complaint. Tell them you want them to enact legislation preventing the State Comptroller from making your new business information public information. I have spent half the day making calls & filing complaints. My number is even on the National do not call list but since the state law says that your information is public information they give out this information for all new business'

- SarahRobot telemarketer. Customers were here and I didn't have time to listen to the robot's whole lengthy spiel to hear what button to push to be removed from their list. We shouldn't have been on their list to begin with because we're on the federal DNC list.

- Conceptress replies to nedra| 1 replyI didn't even register a new business. Somebody used my mobile number to register theirs!
I called the Texas State Comptroller and they pretty much told me there was nothing they could do.
Yeah, I'm pissed. I got a ton of calls right after they registered, and now I get additional spam texts. - DrPete replies to ShannonTry the Mr. Number app...u'll love it!
- mth105If you have already registered your number on the national "Do Not Call" list (https://www.donotcall.gov/register/reg.aspx) and it has been registered for 3 month then you can file a complaint at https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx. You can also pursue a suit in small claims court against a company that continues to call 3 months after the first time you tell the company to stop calling you, this does not apply if you legitimately owe a debt and it is a debt collection company.

- AnonymSome liar calls and says that I called yesterday to set an appointment to get a credit card machine. (Hey, I already use squareup and I love it.) The guy says he is from "Texas Economic Development" which is not even on the first page of google. I told him he was a liar and a scammer and to not call me again.
Anybody that does business with a telemarketer who wants your social security number and your bank account number is an idiot. And that is what you have to give to get a credit card machine.
But I think the readers of 800notes is way smarter than that!!! And anyone who is reading this will not be scammed by this guy. And evidently he is getting his numbers from the secretary of state because that is the only place that phone number is listed. Of course, anybody listed there is already in business and has their credit card acceptance set up.- Caller: Texas Economic Development he says

- WiseoneUnfortunately the Federal Do Not Call list does not apply to phone numbers that are registered to a business. As well unfortunately since it is that Obama took office, the Federal Do Not Call list does not work at all. Nor is it fruitful to file complaints. I have filed many complaints before and after Obama took office. There has been no response from the Federal Government since Obama took office. Yet there was always a response before Obama took office.
What is left is for the consumer to fight back and file lawsuits.
My parents have long been retired, though my dad started his own business and registered it for the purpose of legal reasons and to gain a little bit of income because 1 of his customers continued to call him for supplies. His situation is even much smaller than a Mom & Pop burger joint in town.
But because he is registered, we do get many of these damn scamming phone calls. When I do answer these phone calls I do immediately ask for their company name and address as well as the person's name to list on the lawsuit that I will be filing against them for violating the Federal Do Not Call law. They will sometime respond that they are calling a business phone number so that the law does not apply. Well they are partly correct. But they are calling a private residential personal phone number. I make damn sure that they know this. I make damn sure that they know that I am a Psychologist former police officer and have spent many hours testifying in court as a Psychologist for the purpose of prosecution and that I have never lost. And that they will most definitely will not win when I do drag their ass into court.
I did actually have someone challenge me on this. She did later regret it. The company had to send a representative from Seattle to Dallas, and the witch who called me had to come as well. The results? A judgment for $25,000 for the 10 phone calls and it was also reported and slapped on her credit report. And I'm pretty sure that the company fired her as well.- Caller: 911 Texas Com

- HoustonBobYet another bottom feeder operation, trolling publicly available business listings.Quote:…with an important message for <Business Name> about the new laws and is from your local <City> <State> business development center.
The laws have recently changed lowering the cost to accept credit and debit card to the lowest ever, as low as 0.35%. That is 3% less than Square and PayPal charge.

Choose from a retail, wireless, smartphone, or internet emv terminal.
So now any business can start accepting credit cards or to simply lower the cost you pay now to accept credit and debit cards by as much as 80% saving you thousands of dollars each year.
We sent a certified letter to the address in the city of <City> <State>, but unfortunately it was returned as undelivered.
If your business <Business Name> is interested in receiving your free emv smart card terminal under the new federal guidelines, then simply press the number 1 on your telephone now.- Caller: 911 TEXAS COM
