The name "John Gonzalez" shows up on incoming call.  They've been told multiple times to stop calling, but too stupid to understand.

Got a call from this number stating that they are trying to collect a debt.  When I told them i never received a letter, they gave me an old address that they supposedly sent the letter to.  After telling them I hadn't lived there in years, I realized I may have been saying too much and told them to not call me again.  I do not have any outstanding bills that I'm aware of...sounds like  a scam, especially when the number comes back to a John Gonzales via a google search

Every now & then I get a call from this number.  Of course, I don't answer.  But when I call back, it doesn't ring & says "thank you for calling.  Goodbye."  I know I shouldn't have called back, but, I was curious.  Now this is getting very strange.

This phone number links to a residential address in Austin. I'm not sure if the number is spoofed or if the person is really bad at defrauding people.

    Update:
I called them and someone answered. They do claim that they are a bill collector and claim that they use local numbers so people can call them back. Still concerned that the address links back to a reaidential address. Also, with just my phone number and first name, they provided all information regarding a debt. *sigh* Should have recorded the call, but disconnected when she provided the above details.

I got a call from this number this morning.  I answered since I have family in the hospital.  When I did, all I heard was music.  I stayed on the call for about a minute waiting but just remained music.  Guessing it was a company trying to put me on hold.  Block time!

I got a call from this number today it said there were three callers ahead of me heard music in the background I just hung up because it's an auto dialer at collection company.

I've sold application servers to companies that Did commercial collections and guarantee you they use the servers to run campaigns that get directed to a rep that knows nothing about who their calling and have a script in front of them.
Very annoying and amateur skill sets.
    Shotgun approach via technology.

Caller I.D, says Gonzales John, 1-512-276-5478. It is phony they are a debt collector trying to inquire about someone who does not live at my number. They even asked what number are you calling from? We said who are you calling? since you called our number. They were surprised that we recognized them as "spoofing" like it was someone private calling.  Don't fall for these scam artists. Don't answer any calls from anyone you do not know! Why are these bottom feeders still in business?

They refuse to leave a message and I won't answer a call from a number I don't know for fear of ID theft.  They are welcome to call all they want -- I saved their number as DO NOT ANSWER, and I won't.

They keep calling & don't leave a message.  I called them back and wanted to verify my phone number & name, I told them there is no one here by that name.  Phone number was removed.  Just to make sure, I added them to my call blocking list with AT&T.  If you have U-verse phone, you have that capability.  I would suggest all who have it, use it! You'll never get a call from them again regardless if they remove you or not.  Love this feature!

It's unfortunately legit. This is a phone call from a regional  dialer of CMI Group d/b/a Credit Management LP based in Carrollton, TX; creditmanagementonline.com.  The issue related to a valid Time Warner Cable accounting one.  I'm guessing from the BBB posts that this company has a contract to collect debt for telecomm companies, Time Warner Cable at least and, as other BBB posts indicate, likely for Comcast also.  My issue was valid, in that it relates to an account issue with Time Warner cable, but was invalid in that the issue was erroneous accounting on TWC's end. Specifically, it stemmed from a move I made where TWC administrated the move via several account opening/closures, which did not correctly net-reconcile to a new balance on my new, post-move account. Prior to getting these calls I had already resolved the matter with TWC and was awaiting their correction on my next billing cycle. I'm gathering that open, dormant TWC accounts with unforwarded balances end up on this company's rolls after some number of days as a matter of automated procedure. The rep from this company was nice and seemed to understand that the validity of their activities is at the mercy of their telecomm clients and if an accounting issue is on the client's end, CMI Group is quick about resolution.

I find it disturbing that such collection agencies have no problem with forcing their employees to identify themselves on a first and last name basis to the people they are calling, but won't allow them to identify their employers prior to ascertaining the identity (are you joking?) of the person they called.

Call them back on the other hand, pretend they stuttered while answering, and they'll spell it right out for you. *click*

The policy seems a bit .. pointless? Definitely doesn't seem to accomplish much, aside from pissing off anyone on the other end of one of their phone calls.

(someone needs to be bagging groceries instead of deciding company policy)

I received a call earlier today. I was asked for by name - once I indicated that it was I who was speaking, they then demanded that I verify my address so that we could continue the conversation. That irritated me, since they called me, not the other way around. After requesting to know whom I was speaking with for the third time, I was reluctantly told it was Credit Management. I hung up on them at that point and blocked the number. I just called the number to verify and reached a recording for credit management. Bill Collector, possibly. <Shudder>

I have  been receiving calls from this number recently.  I never answer but after reading all of the comments i decided to see what they said.  The knew my name and asked for my phone number, then asked for my address for "security purposes".  I wouldn't give it and told Delores that she had my name and obviously my phone number so I didn't feel the need to give it to her.  Sounds like a scam to me even though  I do have outstanding medical bills.  Asked for a "reference number" which I obviously didn't have.

Thank you to the poster above who gave the information that this number is actually CMI Group.  I was able to call them directly; well, actually I used this 512-276-5478 number and it connected to the CMI Group.  Honestly, the woman I spoke with was more than helpful and could not have been nicer, an actual pleasure to speak with.  Through the years, many friends and family members of ours have gotten into financial trouble.  Often, our contact information gets into the hands of the bill collectors who are looking for the debtor.  Also, often the bill collectors are looking for someone with our same name, but not us.  Also, particularly with medical bills (which are a freaking nightmare to deal with), legitimate unpaid bills do sometimes fall through the cracks for various reasons (e.g., wrong mailing address, insurance paid or should have paid, some obscure lab you had no idea was billing you separately from your main hospital bill that you already paid in full.)  To everyone who is being harassed by phone calls from this number, it might be worth your while to try to determine exactly why they are calling you.  Most likely it is a misunderstanding, and you might be able to clear it up on the phone.  Yes, it is more than annoying to have to wade through the morass of figuring out why they are calling you.  But more annoying are the continued irritating phone calls, especially if it is due to a mistake.
