Trying to sell me coverage thru "ObamaCare" (their words, not mine). I pressed 1 to speak to a rep and told them to never call me again and that I want absolutely nothing to do with anything that has to do with Obama.

The callers are more f***ing morons with the same old crap. If they call you, I recommend you waste as much of their time as you can. Ask many questions and ask them to repeat everything. You know what your ultimate answer will be but they don't.

Maybe someday they'll realize "not only will I not make a sale, but a call to this number will cost me both time and money."

Wasted time with a false prospect is the only language that these telemarketing mills understand.

I find some of the remarks posted about these ‘faux telemarketer calls’ amusing.  I put together a software program that has logged over 380 of these annoyance calls since 2012.  Those of you that let the calls roll to your answering machine, voicemail or worse yet answered the call you have just ensured you will get another of these calls.  Maybe not from the same number, but they’ve just identified your number as valid and passed it on.  Most of the initial calls originate from software (aka; ‘robocalls’) – once your number is identified as active, then a person may be there on the follow up calls.  If you have the capability to ‘block’ the number that called – that is the best action.  If you don’t have a blocking option, keep a phone with caller ID close by and simply hit ‘talk’ and ‘off’ simultaneously.  If you really want to block them – there is reasonably priced software that a layman can install.  Of the 380 calls I’ve blocked, only 16 have been in the last 6 months.  So the message is simple – blocking works….
PS:  I think Call Notes should add a 'Call Type' for 'Spoof' or 'Scammer Calls'!

    Company
    Caller ID read "Customer Service"
They called our Old Farts line (which means it used to belong to elderly people). I answered with our company greeting and there was dead air. After a few more seconds of no one there, I hung up.

Careful, they may be targeting the elderly.

SS,DD, I answered and pressed "1", was going to tell them where they could put their "Obamacare", also their words, not mine... Nobody ever answered and they eventually disconnected. I called back & the recording says it's not a working number. SCUMBAGS for sure!

Disliking Obama is no no worse than those hating Bush.  Your "inbred" remark denouncing his right to a political dislike is far more ignorent than his.

Calls several times a week. Caller ID sometimes reads Customer Care and other times it reads Unknown. They do not leave a message when the machine pickups. I answered the phone once and it asked me to please hold (I hung up)!  I am on the Do Not Call list, but continue to get calls... Now getting calls on my cell phone.

I did that one time and the girl ultimately asked for my SSN.  I went into a long-winded reply starting with "oh honey, I couldn't possibly do that.  Why you could give that information to all kinds of dishonest, crooked folk who would want steal from an old lady like me.  Does your mamma know what you do for a living?"  She hung up on me.  Since I had nothing else to do, it was worth the big-eyed, innocent, gullible act to pull her leg!

New plan: Answer call count to 5, hang up. YOU ARE A TELEMARKETER, AND I DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH ANY COMPANY THAT USES TELEMARKETING AS A FORM OF ADVERTISING".  DON'T ANSWER UNKNOWN CALLS. DON’T HAVE YOUR NUMBER REMOVED! When you press the number to have your number removed, you confirm that your number is a working number and then they sell your known active number to another scammer. Now I either block the numbers or I don't answer the phone at all.

ROBO CALLS: Each area code has 9,999,999 numbers. Add 800 possible area codes.  The program starts calling every number that it can in succession.  So they don't need to buy or obtain lists from anyone so DNC does not work. The FTC receives anywhere from 250,000 to 300,000 complaints per month, with robocalls responsible for around 60% of those complaints.

So, just block them, and continue using this great site for information to be in control of your own home and cell phone calls.  If it turns out that you did not answer a call from someone you know (number not on this site), just call them back.  No problem. MY HOME PHONE (Panasonic Link2Cell Bluetooth® KX-TGH263B LCD/2 Handsets) BLOCKS 250 NUMBERS AND THE ADDRESS BOOK HOLDS 3,000 numbers and the phone talks to you and says spam from across the room (like if you are up on a ladder).  I save each call as spam and don't answer it.  Right now I have 98 numbers saved as spam and still have room for 2900 more.

NOTHING IS GOING TO STOP THESE SCAMMERS AND LAZY COLLECTION AGENCIES (statute of limitations on debt:  (http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/statuteLimitations.shtml) who call everyone with the same name instead of looking up the right one and all we can do is block them or use call forward selective..  ITS OUR LIFE AND WE NEED TO TAKE IT BACK.
One person said to call forward selective to the FCC whose number is 1-717-338-2533

The Center for Investigative Reporting joined two news organizations in an investigation of groups that use telemarketers to raise money and what they found is that most of the money is paid to telemarketers, leaving the charities with little, if anything. (3%)

Not only that but reputable charitable organizations don't solicit donations by phone.

So it's good advice to remember to just say no to anyone who solicits over the phone unless you actually personally know the person calling.

                                                                                           DEBT COLLECTORS
This was posted on this web site:

The Fair Debt Collection Act (FDCPA) was put into place To give people legal rights when it comes to collection agencies and collection attorneys.  If this collection agency is calling you for a debt you owe or a debt that is not yours, they could be violating your rights.

IF YOU ARE BEING CONTACTED BY ANY COLLECTION AGENCY,  get in contact with         http://www.fdcpacompliance.com/           asap so they can determine what rights these bottom feeders have violated and take action.   More and more American’s find themselves being hounded by debt collectors as a result of our country’s recent economic downturn.  The good news is that harassment is an illegal act according to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).  The great news is that each infraction is PUNISHABLE UP TO $1,000.00 TO THE CONSUMER for statutory damages, and possibly more for actual damages!  The offending agency also has to pay your attorney’s fees.  The only thing that the consumer generally has to do is help to gather and provide information.
