Warrants are NOT announced in advance!!!  Process servers arrive unannounced.  Demand WRITTEN proof of the so-called debt MAILED (post office) to you.  This sounds like an attempt to extort money from you.  If in doubt, contact your local court house - civil division.  BTW - it is illegal to call yourself a lawyer if you are not and a debt is a civil case.

Total clap trap.  Warrants are only issued by judges upon application by duly constituted law enforcement officers where there is probable cause to believe that the person named in the application did in fact commit the crime.  Warrants are only issued to duly constituted law enforcement officers and served personally by duly constituted law enforcement officers.   Private attorneys are not issued warrants and they cannot request warrants. Period.  This is just a scam to try to frighten you into paying them something.

Don't return their calls.  Don't talk to them.  Block their calls.

Having a debt is not a crime.  You cannot be arrested for ordinary civil debt.

    Report 'em:  http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection

Other sites have reported this as an Indian based debt scam.  Strong Hindi accents with background call center noise.

They are Indian debt scammers.  They usually have a lot of personal and financial information.   All this warrant talk is so much nonsense.  You can't be arrested for ordinary civil debts.  Just block the calls and read the other notes. Total scam.

Having your true SS number is certainly not a good thing.  You need to immediately file complaints and notify the credit bureaus to put a fraud alert on your report.  I would file a complaint here:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

I would also go to the IRS. gov site and file a form from this page:
    http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/How-Do-You-Rep ... aud-Activity%3F

Most likely form 14039, but you should verify that is the correct form to use in your case.

Received a call from someone with a accent saying he was with the state attorney office. Said I had a debt with some company I have never heard of and I already had a warrant for my arrest. Funny thing is that in the message he said if I don't call back and settle this that I would "be in big trouble". Do they think they are talking to 5 year olds?  No adult us going to fall for that when they say stupid stuff like that. And the fact that a warrant is not issued for a civil debt.

Exactly the same situation as everybody who posted above including the you will be in big trouble if you don't call me back line.I went to my local police department to put out an FYI in the local newspapers to alert the residents of our community that there is a scam going on targeting anyone who may seem vulnerable in anyway. I also agree with the lady above that you should contact the credit the credit consumer federal site and let them know that there is potential for identity theft.the man gave me the name John Connor and he mumbled his first message then left a second message but what I've come to realize if it is that it is a registered Texas cell phone but the domicile is not Texas it is somewhere overseas however in my experience he does not sound in the end he sound more from the Middle East. and precaution arily the fact that we are all on high alert here in the states it would be in everybody's best interest to report this as soon as possible that way they have a better lead and tracking the perpetrators down via international fraud.
