I received the same call from Alan Pool and he left a message that he would be interested in buying the company if the "deal was structured properly". I did not return the call.
This is "GW Equities" the famous scam where they say they have "buyer interest in your company" and then they stick you up for $30k to "sign up" and after that there is only like one person ever in the thousands of people they've scammed that has ever sold their company. Just google them. Scams like this seem to always be based in Texas.
Can you supply more information about GW Equity? We are considering signing with them after an impressive presentation. Their fee is $30,000. Ron (cell 931-624-5132)
Don't do it. I attended their presentation and yes it was impressive. They had us sold too, luckily 2 days after we gave them the check I decided to Google them and learned of what and who they really are. We were able to stop payment in time! They maintain that Wall Street style and are great salespeople, in the end you will be another victim. They made 118 million in up front fees and sold 19 companies. 3,688 companies paid 32,500 in up front fees, they only brokered 19 sales of the 3,688 companies they scammed.
I'm so glad you posted this information. I received the same call today, and thought it was very curious. I put in the phone number in Yahoo, and came across your post. The guy left is name as Alan Pool. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
Today I received the same call from same Alan described above. I have had at least a dozen of these calls over the past 15 years. Got conned into listening to their presentation once and agree whole heartedly that the entire thing is a scam.
Chose caller type as "Other Commercial" since telemarketer is not appropropriate as some telemarketers actually have products / services to sell and are not simply scams.
Just got a call from them today. I've known about this scam for about 10 years when Geneva Corp. did the same thing for 40K. What a waste of time and money. If you really want to sell, find another company. Unfortunately, I was one of those people who paid the 40K, however, later in a class action settlement we received about 5K back.
I received a voice mail message from "Alan Poole" with the same tag line ... 'interested in selling business if the deal was structured right ..." -- thanks for posting this - always good to know who is trying to track you down.
Seems like he just keeps on going! Like the Eveready Bunny. Called today and fortunately had to leave a voice mail. Same lines as all of the above. I didn't have to speak with him then but if he calls back ......
