Ditto all the above. No IRS agent i.d. just a statement that they were filing a lawsuit. I happen to know that agents always identify themselves. Bogus call.

I just received this same call from number 512-588-5786, automated message stating I have an IRS law suite filed against me and to call a another phone number to check for the reason of this law suite. NO IRS agent will leave such an automated phone message. All communication is mailed to your home address with the case file number along with official IRS contact information. If you receive such a call report it immediately as a scam.

Call said lawsuit against me and to call this #. Knew it was bogus but wish we could do something about these scam artists.
Some vulnerable people are hurt and no law enforcement agency is interested. The "do not call" service does not work.

    Rob -

    Your statements are incorrect.

    1) Law Enforcement IS interested in these scams.  However, YOU must do your part in helping to identify them.  Did you report the calls to the appropriate agency?  Did you help identify the caller's real location and name?

    2) The Do Not Call service works fine, for the purpose for which it was intended ... that is, stopping calls from registered telemarketers.  It is not a call blocker.  It cannot stop calls from lawbreakers.

    3) You can help protect yourself against bogus calls, by educating yourself and using a call blocker correctly.

    Do you understand those concepts?

DNC works fine.   But only with law abiding telemarketers.   It does not stop determined criminals or scofflaws.  There are in fact on going investigations concerning this scam but it is difficult to do anything without the cooperation of the Indian and Pakistani governments.

Your callers are literally beyond the reach of US law.

Invest in a call blocker.  Not perfect but it can help.

Thieves likely hijacking actual VOIP numbers -- probably will use your number as their next caller ID.  I called back several times got two dudes with heavy accents...tried to goad them into giving me information.  I suspect an Indian call center--somewhere in Asia, I assume.  I actually got guy in Texas the last time I called--poor guy...he was angry.  Probably no way to catch the hijackers unless you are a hacker.  If you are a hacker, please take these jerks down.  And to the guy whose number this actually is, sorry for the call.  I will be reporting this to my state attorney general.  Number they are using is 512-588-5786.  I assume they are using my number now to mask their real number

We also got a call from this number claiming to be the IRS. I laughed. What a bogus attempt at a power play. I feel bad for unsuspecting people who will be fearful of this message.

Just got the same message as the rest of you. I am on the Do Not Call list and I do have call blocker. I guess these scammers have a way of getting through. Wish someone would stop them.

And that is the reason for never calling back the number that appears in your Caller ID display.

The scammers get back at those who get angry by spoofing with the angry peoples' phone numbers, or the phone numbers of people who mess with them.
