Group calling itself Impact Mediation contacted me yesterday under a 210 number.  Advised they were working with a company namef Global Group Holdings to collect on a past due (from 2008) payday loan.  Legal action threatened but giving me the opportunity to pay up.

I just got a call from this number.  The person asked for my son and asked if I could get a message to him.  Same as above, Impact Mediation.  I have an app on my phone that automatically records all calls so I have it saved.  They asked if I was a relative and verified my name.  She said her name was Mrs. Lyons.  There are some "serious allegations" that he needs to be involved in. Supposedly this is their direct phone number.

You have been contacted by criminals masquerading as debt collectors.  The idea is to create a panic and to have your son call back so that they can scare him into paying an extortion fee.  There are no "serious allegations"  If he does owe someone money, it is simply that, nothing criminal.  Use the following to inform you son of his rights and to make complaints on their criminal activities to the proper agencies:

This is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your work place repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying.  They also use the “process server” who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Called saying legal matter that needed my immediate attention and could be served at home or work place.  Or could face legal problems if I continue to elude.  I asked them to mail me something and the response was that this matter is past that point.

Received a call from 512-464-2273 stating their name is "Impact Mediation" and told me the same thing that Shannon stated.  I asked them to send me in writing & Jordan (female) wanted to argue with me so I hung up.  This was from 2010 & I have nothing from that year.

They called, yesterday and I ignored the called, until they called my daughter and left a nasty message.  Scaring her, telling her that I there is a complaint on me and further actions will be move forward if I do not handle the matter.  I told her, to just ignore this call.  They I called my attorney, and he told me...what I wanted to hear: " It is a scammed." He suggested to google this number and file a complaint.  I was more at ease and relaxed.  I just did not like that they called my daughter's cell.  Because, now I wonder how much information that they might have on me.  The lady's name is Hydie Clemons

They've (as in HE, as in, its the same jerk) been blowing up our main number all day.
It's getting old. He's being abusive. He called once when I was away from my desk, and harassed my office mate who happened to answer the phone in my absence.
The caller wouldn't state his business for her, nor did he have a contact name. So, he called back (6 times) with various names of various employees.
I eventually told him that we wasn't going to be able to harass my coworkers any longer, and that if he didn't state his business, he'd need to stop calling.

I think he gave up. No one here is intimidated by stupidity.

I keep getting threatening calls from this number.  It is pure harassment.  I have no idea what they could be calling about.  They are claiming it will be "too late" if they find me before I call them back.  Every time they call, it is something different and a different name.  This time it is Linda with Impact Mediation.  512-646-2273.

Here we go again! Another fool claiming to have been served. "CAROLYN", where do you idiots receive your educations? Do you Shills ever even graduate from High School?
Well, let's just get on with it shall we? "Carolyn", you know what's coming. POST this outfits information! You have it if you were served. Which you weren't. Give us the name of the signing Judge & the jurisdiction in which you were served. You won't. Give us the summons & docket numbers. You won't. How about just giving us the valid physical address & the attorneys names of the Plaintiffs? You won't give us a verifiable thing. We see scumbags like you every day "Carolyn". We sometimes think you'd learn. You never do. You, and the scammers like you, are never hired for your intelligence.
I could spend all day punching holes in your story "Carolyn". There's no point. You've done a fine job of making a fool of yourself... & you don't even know how. When your fraud-shop calls people all they have to do is DEMAND a notice of validation BY MAIL. As per federal regulation under the FDCPA. Your fraud-shop won't comply &...we all know why!
     Skeff Ett Liv!
