I received a text from this number about a posting of an item I am selling on Craigslist.
The text said they were interested in purchasing the item but to post it on HipSwap.net because they ship.
I called the number back and it goes straight into voice mail - I think this is a scam to try and get people to sign up for HipSwap.net
Makes me wonder about the validity of HipSwap - BEWARE!!!!!

A quick Internet search finds a lot of similar reports to yours, which makes be believe you are right about Hipswap's sketchy business tactics.  Based on this sort of behavior, I would not consider using them.

Yes, these are scam texts. They did the same thing to me but used a 310 area code #. Said, they were interested in buying my item but wanted me to post it on hipswap because they deliver.

It's very shady when you get someone to tell you to do something on a different website. CL doesn't work like that. It's buyer to buyer. It's not buyer to middle man to buyer again. If that was the case, I would had used ebay or amazon then.

It's stupid and don't fall for it.

Yes, I also got a request asking me to list on Hipswap. As we see, there is a pattern.

Same here thank you for helping me they said were interested and never talked to me and went straight to voice mail and only text  i know when i want to buy something i call the person to buy it i dont text all day about it!

I got the same but they used a 646area code. Very supicious to me.

I got a text with a 206 area code as a result of my posting on Craigslist. I specifically said NOT to contact me with commercial interests. I'm going to email the contact info listed in godaddy and I recommend others do it as well. Here it is:

I received a text from 616-438-9803  saying the same thing right after my listing on Craigslist.   I will never sign up for Hip Swap now.  If they have to scam people to get them to sign up, it must be a GREAT site!

I got a similar text from 919-935-0205. I hope these people stop this.

got a message with the same MO after posting something to craigslist this time with the area code 417-429-4549

I got a text from the exact same number. I thinking they have people in every area helping them run this scam since there are similar stories from all over

I sent her several emails. All we can do is to spread the bad word On this site so they don't fool someone.

Got a text from 248-327-0276. Instantly wondered why someone would text me to list elsewhere!

I got a text today wanting me to post to their sitw3h4e the number came in as 843-410-0486. Like u guys i tried calling it went to machine. I replied back with a rude message

I just received a text from a 281 number asking me to post my things from Craigslist to Hipswapp.....

Like the rest of you, I'm concerned this IS a scam. So I did an Internet search and came across
this website.

In resonse to an item I posted on Craigslist I was simply asked, via text, Quote :
                                                           " was looking at your table and chairs on craigslist.
                                                              can you post it on hipswap?"

I've since declined to respond at all to this text.

i just received the same message but from a 317 area code. I believe this is a total scam as well. Although i was researching it online before i came across these post. And they said it was 76% safe. And was a safe site. But the same people that's running this site is prolly controlling those post as well. Anything to me that requires a credit card number before joining or posting is a scam to me.

I received a text tonight from the number 512-861-6059 saying
"hi. saw your thirty gifts online. can you post it on hipswap"

Wow. That is exactly how it was stated.
I texted back twice, obviously because I am very serious about my business, and they never texted back. I am going to reply again and let them know they are never going to call my phone again or I will press charges.
And I never ever post anything on craigslist or buy from there. It is a scam in itself. Half the stuff on there isn't real. I recommend using Ebay Classifieds.
