Caller claims to want to buy rv sight unseen from RV Trader thru paypal.   This I am sure is a scam.  Says he is a petroleum engineer.   don't fall for this scam.  Who buys an RV sight unseen

We had the same experience with this person.   We finally told him it was sold.

Still at it, responding by text to purchase an RV sight unseen.

getting text from  512-859-4569 says he's an immigration officer that can't do a face to face deal but his "agent" will get the RV sight unseen after h pays thru paypal- I explained to him the reason I am having to sell is to pay medical bils for my husbands cancer but I don't think he could be legit after seeing these other posts on the #- sorry  people in this world-

I was just contacted by this person, same line, wants to buy thru paypal sight unseen!!

they are using the same scam using immigration officer and want pay pal addresses, only I am selling a dana wide glide.  I gave them a # to call and will not

He told me the immigration story too. And basically is pushing me to get a paypal account when I don't have one. I'm glad I looked this information up.

same thing but he told me immigration officer and that he would have pick up agent come get it. he keeps texting for me to start pay pal his number shows to be in the grainger  tx area

I posted a motorcycle for sale on craigslist, got response via text message from somebody who wants to buy it sight unseen, wants to pay via paypal because "of the nature of my job am a immigration officer . So I cannot be able to have you cash at hand or a face to face deal."
Almost certainly a scam. The question is, how does it work? What can somebody do if they have your email address associated with a paypal account? It's not immediately obvious to me how you would extract something from somebody given that info, in contrast to, say a bank routing and checking account #.

Craigslist Scam:

The scam works like this.  They think your item as described is perfect.  They might ask a few questions about it, and then will pay your asking price, sight unseen, because they are never around close by to come look at it (they use the stationed somewhere in the military a whole lot).  They will give you an extra $40 or $50 to old it for them.  Then they tell you they will send a cashier’s check or money order for that amount plus extra for the “shipper”.  They ask you to wire that extra money by untraceable means such as Western Union or Moneygram.  The check or money order turns out to be bogus and you end up out the money you sent plus the bank fees.  Also, if the check is big enough you may end up being charged criminally.  Take the check and the envelope it came in to the post office and have them forward it to the postal inspectors.
In the case of them using PayPal, the same thing happens.  They send a fake email looking like it came from PayPal, get you to pay the shipper, and then find out that the e mail was fake and no money is available.
