They keep calling and not answering so I called 'em back. A woman informed me that they are collecting for some children's cancer fund. Now I'm all about supporting the kids and even cancer patients, BUT, this number calls me several times a day for a few weeks. I had enough when they called on Mother's Day evening! I told them to take me off their call list and she told me they didn't have a list!  WTH? Then she asked me for my number that they had called. It better be to take it OUT of the system!

Most charities that call to ask for donations pay a telemarketing firm to make the calls.  Typically close to 70% of every donation is kept by the telemarketing firm to cover expenses.  

If you want to donate to a charity track down the snail mail address and mail them a check.

After receiving 11 calls in two days, I called the above number.  They are asking for donations, and I quote, "to help children with terminal cancer so that they can go on an all expense paid vacation with their family.  These are children who are at the end of their lives where there is nothing left that can be done for them."

I asked what cancer group this was and was told it was Children's Cancer Dream Network.  If you google this name and check a few of the websites, you will find some interesting comments, including one from BBB where they "caution" you in making donations to this group and to other charities with which they are affiliated.
