Applied for a job on craigslist for "clerical assistant" Immediately got the job, received an email from Adam Longus from outlook. Saying he'll meet me when he returns to the states in 2 weeks, but my first job is to mail stuff to an orphanage which I'll be receiving a cashier's check in the mail to do all of this plus my first weeks pay. I really want it to be legit, but I don't know.

Definitely a scam.  I replied and got a response about a day later.  after some quick research it was easy to identify this as a scam.  So I decided to play along.  He will send you a check for about $3500, asking that you put some of that (he asked for $500 from me) on one of those money cards you can buy at CVS and then give him the card information so he can pass it along to the orphange.  Obviously I never cashed the check and in a couple of days "Adam" called me.  When I asked why he didn't just send the money directly to the orphange he couldn't give me a clear answer and when I told him I did my research and figured out this was a scam he hung up the phone.  So I have then just been signing up his email for as many mailings lists as I can.   I hope no one falls for this and this guy is a serious [***].

Why would he send u 3500 if it was a scam?

The check for $3500 is fake. You deposit it, send the scammer the $500 he asked for, in a way that can't be traced or canceled - and then the $3500 check is returned and you're out of luck and $500, plus whatever your bank charges you for a returned item. Plus, any of that $3500 you've spent is also gone gone gone.

It's an old trick, and still widely being used. Don't fall for it.

Definitely a scam.  Today is 3/29/16, and I just got the same 'job' email.  Only this time, the scammer used Indeed.com logo pasted onto the email.
    DON'T fall for it!
