I am so absolutely speechless right now.  I received a call today twice from this number.  I answered the second time and a woman asked if we knew how to reach the next of kin for a woman with my husband's last name because she had "passed".  I told her that I did not recognize the name of this woman although it was my husband's last name.  I then proceeded to call my husband at work to ask him (he did not know this woman either). I then called some of his family members who also did not recognize this name.  I called the number back and it was Macy's Department Store!  I then googled the number and found out it was their credit services.  I called them to let them know how disgusting it was to use death as a means of getting in touch with someone, especially when the people on the other end of the phone don't know the person!!  This is the lowest of low.  I will never shop there.

Woman called me today. Got a second call 3 hours later and they hung up. I called them back quickly to complain that they dialed the wrong number. Their manager requested my name and I didn't give it to them. Told them to not call me.

Haven't you ever heard of credit card fraud? They could be calling you because you there is someone using your info and they are trying to verify purchases before they are made and then effect your credit score. You complain now but don't complain when they don't call you to verify, before somebody jacks your credit up. And as far as receiving calls for next of Kin you should have stopped and asked before jumping to conclusions. Macys credit is known for sending out over payments on accounts that have been sitting around for awhile especially to the next of Kin I guess they could just keep the money. Its funny that you morons have the time to find a web site to rant a rave for no apparent reason just to be able to read your post later, but I guess I'm a moron because I found the post and then took the time out of my day to respond...

i just got a call from them too!  and i called back to see who it was and they said this is maceys how can help you?  but i dont shop at maceys nor have i ever had a maceys account.  i asked them how they got my number but of course the woman on the line didnt know and just kept apologiznig for the mysterios call.  well heres what i think is going on:  the maceys headquarters in ohio is a secret goverment coverup for the illuminati and extra terrestrial involvement in the military persuits of the white house.  they got our cell phone numbers from that law that bush passed a while back that allows the govenment to listne in on our calls.  well they have been.  and in doing so they have gathered the cell phone numbers of those people whom they deem suspicious.  then these people (me, sam, shorty, and kelly) get a call, or eight calls, from "maceys" and they dont leave a message but wait to see if we call back.  the ones that eventually do call "maceys" back are then put on another list, the suspicious and paranoid list.  and then they wait for the right moment, when someone is needed to take the blame from a namesless crime.  and we get another call.  but not from "maceys" this time.  im sure of it.  so watch out.  goverment abduction can happen anywhere and at anytime!  beware the illuminati!

I received a call from an unknown number, so I ran a quick google search and found this page.  They didn’t leave a number, but immediately called back, so I answered.  A couple weeks ago, I called Macy’s regarding a coat I purchased that fell apart within the first month.  Unfortunately, they didn’t sell the item anymore.  The deal I got was so good, I didn’t expect them to have anymore, but I was hoping they may be able to fix the item free of charge.  Anyhow...this call comes about 2 weeks later, and the guy identifies himself as an “auditor” at Macy’s.  He was auditing calls of a new associate and came across my call and wanted to make it right.  He claims to have given me a credit for the shipping I paid, plus another 30% of the coat’s purchase price.  After reading this e-mail, I was fully expecting him to ask for the credit card number to process the credit, but he didn’t.  He said he processed the credit and I should see it soon.  I will monitor my credit card activity just to be sure, but so far this was a VERY positive call for me.  I will update if something goes wrong.

That number and caller ID of MCCS Inc. showed up on my phone, but I didn't answer. They left a message, though. We ordered a chair from Macy's a couple of weeks ago that wasn't supposed to be available for delivery until 3/15, but they were calling to say it is in their warehouse and want to schedule delivery.

    Totally legit.

I got a call from this number, it was from Bloomingdales customer service. I had placed an order for a dress for a wedding yesterday, for some clothes, which, due to the estimated shipping time, had to be sent to my parents' address instead of my own, since that's where the wedding will be.

Seems legit, but if you didn't have an order from Bloomingdales or Macy's I'd be suspicious. Good thing they call to check to make sure that the packages weren't fraudulent charges

Just got a VM from them. Called back, and they were verifying that (A) I authorized use of my CC, and (B) that the address used is where I want it to go. Nice to see that kind of security measure for online ordering!

This number is listed on their website and I thank God for Macy's!! The people I talked to from this number, on two separate occasions, were from the "Consumer Protection Dept" and they were trying to verify suspicious purchase attempts being made with my social security number. Because of their quick notifications, I was able to get a fraud alert on my credit information before the thieves did much damage.

Rec'd call on my cell phone, Sunday 8/2/2009 at 2:20PM.  No caller ID information other than 513-398-5221.

I do not shop at Macy's, I do not use credit cards and my prepaid cell phone is used for emergencies only.  I have no next of kin that has the same last name as me and my cell number is registered as  "anonymous".  There is absolutely NO reason whatsoever for Macy's or any other company to call my cell phone.

The caller left a message, but I will not waste my air time minutes to retrieve a phony message which does NOT apply to me.  I resent having my Sunday afternoon(s) infringed upon by supposed collection/sales calls which reeks of a phishing or identity mining tactic for their marketing purposes.

Others on this site have stated that this number is for Macy's Human Resources, Consumer Protection Dept. and/or Macy's Credit Dept.  A quick search of their number directed me to their website found at http://www.macysjobs.com/credit/about/faqs3.asp?flash=No

    Their site states:

    "Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How can I apply for a position at Macy's Credit and Customer Services?
There are several ways to apply for a position with our company:

At this web site, click on "Career Opportunities" and then "Search Jobs".

    OR you can contact:

For the record, any employment opportunities that interest me do not involve being a sales clerk or a loathsome telemarketer.  I will call Macy's today to inform them of my intent to pursue any legal remedies that may apply to me if I receive as much as one more of their calls in the future.

I just received a call from this number, 513-398-5221.  The lady I talked to did not inform me see was calling from Macy's.  I just found that out on this website.  But what she did do was specifically ask for an individual by name.  So obviously someone that is not authorized to use my number gave it to Macy's.

For the woman above who is treating legal remedies,  someone maybe trying to use your identity at Macy's and it might be in your best interest to do a check with the store before throwing a tantrum over a phone call.

    Glad They Called
I received a call from this number on my cell phone.  I did not answer it as I did not recognize the number.  Immediately after, I received a call on my work phone.  It was Macy's confirming my order and the shipping address (my office) because it included a jewelry purchase.  I was glad to see they check even though the jewelry was only $35!

This number is for Macys Credit and Customer Service in Mason, Ohio.  It could be a customer service issue, delivery or collections.  If you are past due, they call you.  Sometimes people give the wrong phone number on their account and sometimes people move and forget to change their phone number.

I received a call from this number, 513-398-5221 at 7:40am on a Saturday morning!!  The lady on the other end asked for Delia.  I advised her that she has an incorrect number and then asked her if she knew what time it was...her reply..uhhh 8:00?  I stated no, it is 7:40am in California!!  Her reply was oh, I did not know I was calling California.  These people should not be calling at 7:40am on a Saturday morning for any reason!!  If they are calling regarding collections, it is not legal and if they are calling regarding an order, it is rude.  I do not have a Macy's card and never will have a Macy's card.  I read yesterday that Macy's may be forced to file bankruptcy by the end of this year and I can understand why, they really need to train their employees on proper phone etiquette.
