Do not give these people money.  They refuse to give us the name of the company and threaten jail time for a bad debt which is NOT a remedy available in this country.  DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE MONEY.

A man named Thomas Gibson called my place of employment from 513-433-5590 and threatened to have me arrested by 1 p.m. today if I did not pay a cash advance debt from 2007.  He spoke to the secretary and principal of my school and told them both this, as well.  My attorney called Thomas Gibson back and he would not speak with my attorney.  He would not disclose the name of his company, only that he was calling from the 'Fraud Department'.

I was told they are the company Check Investigative Services and was called three times in less than 5 minutes.  I have reported them to the Ohio Attorney General's Office, and was told it sounds like a phishing scam.  I hope others report them as well... Then maybe they'll be shut down.

Sounds familiar... This just happened to me with the same scenario!  He said he spoke with my principal too, and couldn't even say his name correctly.

You all really need to check your state laws because some were broken in the process of what you all have done. Please do no act innocent when everything is factual evidence against you. If you have a case with our office then you can call and speak with the director of the department.

You want to talk about who is breaking laws??? Pretending to be from a law enforcement agency, law office, etc is breaking the law, you arrogant ass. It is also illegal to threaten someone with jail for failing to pay a debt. Plus, you need to look up the statute of limitations. You told me that my debt was 2005. the statute ran out last year, moron. Here's a question for you: Reading these posts....most of the debts are from 2005-2007 so why did you wait so long to contact any of us??? Under the Fair Debt law..you are required to send a notice of validation within 5 days of contacting someone you're trying to collect from. Still waiting for mine. Sucks when the debtor is armed with all this info on their rights, doesn't it? I, for one, have reported you to as many government agencies as I could think of.

If I owe the debt then fine. Send me the documentation. DO NOT threaten to have me arrested if I fail to pay the debt within two hours of your call. If you are really from any law firm/law enforcement agency you know this is illegal and that we, as debtors (and if we can find you) can sue you for damages. Look it up. The only reason you give such short deadlines and resort to feeding off the fear factor is that you don't want the person your threatening to actually do some research and find out what a lying, pathetic waste of human flesh you really are.

i rec'd a call from this company first they said it was morris and pickett but once i got documentation from them it said united check services and processing from amelia ohio. I did my reseach today at the address they gave and it was just and open field. The first time they called they said her name was melissa pickett and then put me on hold and said megan pickett(chose a name). She said that i owe money from a payday loan company in 2007. and they have been trying to get ahold of me for year. well no they have not. This megan told me that i owe 1685.80 however the loan was for much less. They told me that if i do not pay 985.80 that they will go do the judge and have a warrant for my arrest for 2 felony charges. stupid me paid them 400.00. now after seeing everything i see they are a scam. they keep telling me the same thing over and over then that i should just turn myself in. the law in Pa that they can not arrest you on a payday loan and it is illegal in my state. I have contact the bbb, ftc and my attorney general on this issue. based off the ftc fair debit colleciton act that they are unable to theaten anyone or say they will arrest you for a debit. I am worried about this . any advice.
