This number calls constantly. I asked to be removed from their calling list and they hung up on me.

Got a call, the prick on the other line asked for Chuck after I said hello twice.  I told him wrong number, he then asked for Chuck again.  I told him again "Ya, I know, wrong number." Then I got the "Thanks f*@ker!"  To the jack hole who wasted 30 seconds of my day: In case your dad didn't tell you, "You are never going to amount to anything."

Mr Bateman called like that was his real name. He asks for the owner all the time, and when I say he's not here, he slams the phone down. It's so annoying. I'm trying to catch it on the caller ID when he calls so I can hang up on his ass jerk.

Same thing as the rest of the posts above.. They asked for an old owner of our company and when I said no they hung up.

It lists the 516-000-0000 number as a fax line.

they just called me.  asked for my boss.  told them he wasn't in they just hung up.  Sounds like a stock broker.

My boss got a call from this number today. I could hear the telltale background noise and knew it was a bogus call. When I told him the boss wasn't here and no, he couldn't call back, he asked "why?" Who does that? I told him, "because you're a telemarketer. Goodbye." Then I checked here to make sure I hadn't actually been rude to a real caller. :) By the way, I expect that boat company's fax number is a coincidence; the caller ID is probably spoofed.

I've seen many responses from this number. It's either debt collection or a stock broker. Looks like a spoofed number used by several people. If you fail to pay a hospital bill, it gets fowarded to someone who probably spoofs this number. Other times they are very rude and slam the phone down. Other calls are something about a stock broker asking to discuss options.

I see telephone numbers like that and I just dont answer..don't know who they are and I don't care.
I've been to Columbia Presbyterian and I am paid up and I do not owe them a nickel..
I cant understand why there would even be such a number out there..

I get this call a lot. They ask for the owner of my company by name. When I say he isn't in and if I can take a message they proceed to say, "Can you give me his cell number. I lost it." I ask who is calling, they just hang up. This last time I played into the game. This is the information I got out of him (Don't know if it's bogus or not. Haven't tried to call it back):

been getting calls from an extreemly obnoxious [***] at 646-278-9984 saying he's from APM, looking to peddle enegry penny stocks, no doubt.  is anyone stupid enough to buy this nonesense?

my trick:  pick up a pen before you pickup the phone.  Write the # down as you pick it up and answer that way you have it before these fools start in with these pathetic sales pitches for ripoff stocks.

Receive daily calls from people with a strong NY or NJ accent asking to speak to the owner of our company when we question the purpose of the call they hang up.  I tried automatic call back and was told they called from (516)000-0000 - not a real number obviously.

This company goes by the name of Clark Dodge.  It appears that they are based out of Westchester County, NY, but they train their brokers in Long Island, NY.  The person to contact in Long Island is Tim (he may be the one in charge of hiring/training) 516-450-3653.  Their company website is www.clarkdodgeandcompany.com.  Their phone number is 914-694-2390.  If you still receive calls, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov) or the FCC (www.fcc.gov), as the Telemarketing Sales rule requires "telemarketers, for purposes of Caller ID, to transmit the telephone number, and, when made available by the telemarketer’s telephone company, the telemarketer’s name," which they have obviously violated by only showing the area code, and putting in "000-0000" in place of the rest of their number.  According to the FCC (www.fcc.gov), "if you have caller ID, a telemarketer is required to transmit or display its phone number and, if available, its name or the name and phone number of the company for which it is selling products. The display must include a phone number that you can call during regular business hours to ask that the company no longer call you. This rule applies even if you have an EBR with the company, and even if you have not registered your home phone number(s) on the national Do-Not-Call list. Before these rules took effect, the words “private,” “out of area,” or “unavailable” might have appeared on the Caller ID display."   With regards to brokerage companies doing the telemarketing, the FTC website states, "Under the provisions of the Telemarketing Act, a number of entities and individuals associated with business that sell investments and are subject to the jurisdiction of the Securities and Exchange Commission or the Commodity Futures Trading Commission are not covered by the Rule, even if they engage in a plan, program, or campaign to sell through interstate telephone calls. These entities and individuals are covered by the FCC’s telemarketing rules.  As per the FCC website, "Some states permit you to file law suits in state court against persons or entities violating the do-not-call rules. You may be awarded $500 in damages or actual monetary loss, whichever is greater. The amount may be tripled if you are able to show that the caller violated the rules willfully and knowingly. Filing a complaint with the FCC does not prevent you from also bringing a suit in state court. States also can bring a civil law suit against any person or entity that engages in a pattern or practice of violating the TCPA or FCC rules. You can contact your state Attorney General’s office or consumer protection agency with particular complaints, or to encourage such suits."

With that information, maybe it will finally stop them (and others like them) from abusing their privileges.
