- SoozCLinda Gomez called from 516-252-1973 yesterday Jan. 18, 2014 stating I'd won a sweepstake the united negro collage fund had sponsored and that the drawing was held in 2012 and I was second place winner of $800,000. She stated that they had been sending the information to the wrong address and now have my correct address and because the prize had remained unclaimed for so long this was their last attempt to contact me before the funds would be liquidated and donated to a charity. She said because she had finally contacted me, as the legal representative of the company Lloyds International Lottery she legally had to give me option of taking the prize or donating it to a charity . I said that I would take the money. She then told me she was about to give me important information that I would need to write down so I could claim my prize. Long story short I was given a claim number and a check serial number. She told me the check would arrive the next day by Fed Ex currier between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm. Got a 2nd call at 9:30 am the next day from someone claiming to be US customs agent Ted Frost in Dallas Texas who went through this long scenario about the package being held in customs at the Dallas airport. He said that 9 out of 10 times because of the way the package came into this country its usually fraudulent but he assured me that they checked everything out and my package was legal but apparently the company Lloyds or it representative Linda Gomez wasn't aware of a new law that had went into effect that required that any package coming from Panama into the united states that was worth over 280,00 now incurred a 1 per cent tax that had to be paid before they could release the winnings so he wanted $5,500 but at some point said they had a loan program were they could help me to come with 2,500 of the money that way all I would have to pay was 2,500 and that would release the package from the Dallas customs. the Phone # he called from was 972-464-2578. I told them I didn't have the money and since I didn't have the $800,000 I supposedly had won before they called and my life was fine, give the money back to the United Negro Collage Fund where you said it came from and I'm sure my life will continue be just fine. and then I hung up. These people will stop at nothing to get you to fall for this scam. They are very convincing with the stories they tell. But I know that a legitimate lottery will not ever ask you to pay any money to them. They will deduct any fees owed from your winnings.

- SDKI received a phone call from a lady who gave me that phone number to call saying that I had won $750,000 as a second chance prize in a contest I never entered. I called that number, and listened to what the guy had to say. I could donate it to United Negro College Fund in my name but be responsible for the taxes due, get it myself and pay a percentage of the winnings before it can come out of the account, or let it get liquidated. I told him I didn't know who he was, and I didn't know if this was legit. He said he was going to send me an email with this so called letter I was suppose to receive, but did not receive. I told him he picked someone who is dead broke to ask money from. He said there was some kind of hardship paper work I could fill out which would hold the money in there until all of the money was paid. I don't fall for that, especially since I did not enter a sweepstakes.
