Call me today 4-25-14 and told me I own the its 758.00 dollars I told them I need to talk with my husband they  hang up on me

Called me today 4-15-14, told me I owe the IRS $2,500 and the only two opts I have is to pay him, Officer Adam Clark, or go to the court house cease the proof of my charges and in doing so, activate the charges and go to jail for 3yrs or have all my assets and property ceased and frozen. But if I pay now all charges will be dropped... He must think I'm Boo-Boo The Fool! OH! AFTER I pay, Then I'll get a letter in the mail!

Call me to 04-25-2014  saying that I owed the IRS some money if I don't pay I will be going to jail Monday morning 04-28-2014 the person who call me was very rule!

Tell him you plead the fifth, and that you want a free lawyer appointed by him to protect your rights.

This is some sad coward hiding behind a magicJack device with an Internet collection calling you from some God-forsaken corner of the world -- probably his mother's basement.  He's just a fool attempting to use the phone plugged into the magicJack the same way some child would cover up a squirt gun in his shirt pocket and hold up a 7-11 store for a case of beer.

Asking him to read you the Miranda warning and to appoint a free lawyer to defend you will be very confusing to him and force him to try to go "off script," which he won't be able to do.

I received a call yesterday from a man with a heavy accent from this number and I could hear others saying he was from the irs.

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service today warned consumers about a sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, throughout the country.

Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver’s license. In many cases, the caller becomes hostile and insulting.

“This scam has hit taxpayers in nearly every state in the country.  We want to educate taxpayers so they can help protect themselves.  Rest assured, we do not and will not ask for credit card numbers over the phone, nor request a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer,” says IRS Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel. “If someone unexpectedly calls claiming to be from the IRS and threatens police arrest, deportation or license revocation if you don’t pay immediately, that is a sign that it really isn’t the IRS calling.” Werfel noted that the first IRS contact with taxpayers on a tax issue is likely to occur via mail
Other characteristics of this scam include:
Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers. They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves.
Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim’s Social Security Number.
Scammers spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it’s the IRS calling.
Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
After threatening victims with jail time or driver’s license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or DMV, and the caller ID supports their claim.
If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, here’s what you should do:
If you know you owe taxes or you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS at 1.800.829.1040. The IRS employees at that line can help you with a payment issue – if there really is such an issue.
If you know you don’t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you’ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1.800.366.4484.
If you’ve been targeted by this scam, you should also contact the Federal Trade Commission and use their “FTC Complaint Assistant” at FTC.gov.  Please add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments of your complaint.
Taxpayers should be aware that there are other unrelated scams (such as a lottery sweepstakes) and solicitations (such as debt relief) that fraudulently claim to be from the IRS.
The IRS encourages taxpayers to be vigilant against phone and email scams that use the IRS as a lure. The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information.  This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media channels. The IRS also does not ask for PINs, passwords or similar confidential access information for credit card, bank or other financial accounts. Recipients should not open any attachments or click on any links contained in the message. Instead, forward the e-mail to phishing@irs.gov.

I got a phone call today on 04/26/14 says his name is Sam and works with IRS and that I owe 1,000 dollars in tax money and the police will be at my house first thing monday morning to arrest me and I have to serve 7 years for tax fraud, So I ask him what are you talking about this is crazy, I told him I would report him and he hung up on me. Beware of this, I called the sheriff office and they said they are calling everybody, So please beware of a guy name Sam with IRS its a SCAM!!!!! His phone number is 516-515-7671  I called Sam back and told him the police will be at his front porch to pick him up LOL

This person called claiming to be James Miller but had a very thick accent.  It's the same person who had tried to call me on Friday from another number (516-515-7848) and claiming to be Kevin Brown.  Supposedly if I don't call back, there will be legal action taken against me for the deficiency in my income tax return.  Total [***].

I just got a call from this number ... some idiot I could not understand at all ... when I asked to speak to his manager he got very nasty with me and told me I was going to jail tomorrow ... see you around you idiot...

I called the number knowing it was phishing and the moron called me back about ten minutes later with quite a tone. I asked if he was with the IRS, he says "Yes, what do you want", I asked for his badge number, he says "excuse me", i asked again and he says "your mom's [***]", then hangs up.

Small timer!

A man with a heavy accent named John Henderson left me a voicemail on 4.24.14 stating it was an urgent matter regarding my tax documents and to call back with the name of my attorney. They stated my full name and so I called back immediately.

When I called back what sounded like the same man with the heavy accent answers with just a 'Hello" and states his name was Peter. When I mention the voicemail, he looked up my name and stated he was from the IRS and that I owed them $987.67 due to fraudulent documents. When I asked what documents, he mentioned I received 3 notices from the IRS regarding the documents and I should have paid attention to my mail. I stated that is very unfair and he told me to calm down that I was being reported. I was very calm and found that hilarious. He then went on to state if I paid it with him then and there the matter would be resolved immediately and i'd get an email confirmation of payment. If I didnt pay it I would be arrested the following morning and be forced to pay $2000 due to interest.

When I stated if there was any way of seeing the docs or getting more information as to the specifics of this matter, he told me to calm down once again and be careful what I say. When I told him that I was calm especially because I was calling from my job he immediately seemed nervous and told me he needed me to go to my local Walmart or CVS to call from my cell phone. I assume he got nervous that my job would be recording him. To get him off the phone I said very sarcasticly that I would go down to a duane reade and call him.

When I hung up I immediately began making calls to the real IRS and eventually spoke to someone at the IRS who confirmed the call was fraudulent and advised they would always give us a badge number before commencing their call and would never call a person directly or threathen with jail time.

In the course of me calling the IRS, the same number called my job number, I guess it came up on his caller ID and after the 3rd try he gave up, but never left me a voicemail.

I.got a call from this number telling me that I owed.the.IRS $2000 and that I.was gonna be arrested tomorrow and taken to jail.  Scared the crap out of me....do not fall for it like me....tell him thank you and hang up.

That's the same message I got, except his name was "Paul Smith".

Received a message on my cell saying: " This is Officer Wallstreet from the IRS, there is going to be a case filed against you regarding your taxes.  Call 516-515-7671 right now!"  Man had a very heavy accent and I could hear a lot of noise in the background.

I got this call 5/8/14 and it's the same script as the others. First when I called them back they didn't answer. And called me back and said "somebody just called me?" I gave them my name and telephone number. He told me I owe $2,000 from 2011, 2012 & 2013. I asked him how since I haven't worked since 2009. He put me on hold. Then he said oh yeah I was right the IRS goes back 10 years and if I don't pay today I am going to need a lawyer and the police is going to show up at my door and arrest me. So I said send them I am going to jail! Lol and then he said thank you, and hung up.

Just got a call from this number .a man witch I couldny really understand told me I owned 2000 from the last 3 years after I told him I have worked the last year's or have not claimed taxes he said I have 2 options I didn't even listen to his optons I yelled again that haven't worked so I'm not paying anything . He then got nervous and hung up on me .. beware!!

This number called my wife, who is a stay at home mom, and told her that he was from the IRS and she owed $1,500 . He told her that it had to be paid over the phone or she would be arrested tomorrow morning. It got her all flustered, but she handled it well.

I called the number back and left a nice little voicemail. Don't fall for this one. The IRS will always mail you a bill.
