This guy (Christopher Lucas) claims he is calling from Prosper however, when I call the company Prosper Loans (with whom I have a loan with) to ask why he is calling me they do not know him!!!.  (They are in SanFrancisco, he will use spoofing techniques to call from different area codes  - FYI)   He will claim you have an overdue account when you do not & if he worked for them he could see that you had paid them (that is how I busted him as well as I'm fully aware prosper is not in NY & he had called me earlier from another area code)  Also, Prosper will email you on a late loan.

I tried to report him to Prosper but nothing came of it so just warning the public.  Our guess was that he may have been either a former employee or an investor who got a list of people holding loans with them.

Received a call from 516-590-7040 asking for a former employee.  When told no one here by that name they said thank you and hung up.  Of course they will call back asking for someone else.

Scammer or Collection Agency probably both!!

I am also receiving calls from this person who claims to be Prosper.  Thank God I am at the end of my loan with Prosper.  I will never use them again.  It was a very expensive  3 year loan to be annoyed like this.  Does anyone know what to do about him?  He is calling from a L.I. number.

Consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

My husband has been harassed by this phone number every day just recently. This "Charles with Prosper" calls from this exact phone number but gives a call back number of 877-834-7864 ext 5210. We have no loan with Prosper, we have never even heard of the company, and the debt he claimed was from a bankruptcy years ago in which we have the paperwork showing it was discharged. We faxed them the discharge proof but they are still harassing.

Just now they somehow go hold of my work number and my personal cell, which was never on any bankruptcy paperwork. This guy is a fraud.

It was prosper.  Wanted me to go to autopay since I was 4 days late.  She was pleasant, and accepted my no thank you.

516-590-7040 is from Prosper.com.

This number is now being used by Credit Shop to collect debts. I do not know if Prosper still uses it or not, but Credit Shop uses multiple numbers, both toll free and with various area codes.
