- Christopher K.| 2 repliesThey call, I pick up the phone and say "hello", they say nothing, and then a click follows. This has happened several times. I am sick and tired of it.
- Finnee| 4 repliesWho ever it is has called me 3 days in a row. Since I have no clue as to who it is i will not answer. I am on the do not call list but it seems groups are now ignoring this list and calling anyway.
- mark| 2 repliesThey called on a Sunday afternoon. Unbelievable!!!
- ChristineCalled at 11:21 AM on 5/7/2012. Upon answering and saying "hello" there is a click and then a dial tone. Caller ID comes up as "Michigan Call". When trying to call number back, the ringing tone changes to a weird switchboard ring, unable to connect to anything.
- Caller: Michigan Call
- Christine| 2 repliesThey called back again at 12:12, this time it was a man from MADD. I answer and say "are you kidding me? This is the second time you've called in under an hour! Take me off your list!" (Original number that claimed to be MADD was 800-981-2591) He then responded by yelling at ME and said "I'm just trying to do my job lady you don't have to be such a b*tch!" I asked to speak to his manager and he responds with "have a nice day" and hangs up. So frustrated! We didn't ask for these calls and now they won't stop. You can't even call the number back because it rings and then beeps. It's probably not even MADD - just a scamming telemarketing company.
- Caller: Unknown Name - claims to be MADD
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Skipperoo replies to FinneeI also ignore this call as well as many other ignorant spoof callers.

- Just plain Mad!| 1 replyThey called 2 times in one hour. First asking for someone I had never heard of. Then calling back and asking for my late husband (been gone 5 years). Told the guy that husband died 5 years ago. Then asked for his wife. I told them I have not had that name for 2 years get it right. Told him I am not giving to his cause so stop wasting my minutes and my time and remove me from his call list. He told me not to be a rude a** b***h like me around and it was no wonder my husband kicked the bucket married to me, he was better off. Then he hung up. I tried to call back and it is a busy tone.

- Just plain Mad!I just spoke to customer service at MADD. I called them myself. She told me MADD phone numbers start with 800 numbers and they are not aware of any fundraising coming from this number for them and if it were them then they would not tolerate anyone treating people like that. If you get a call and wonder then the phone number for MADD customer service is 800-981-5526. She was going to talk to a supervisor about this. If by chance they were telemarketing for MADD then they were going to get the rude behavior stopped. But, since the number did not show up in her database, if it is someone trying to defraud people then she will let them know about the potential fraud in their name.

- MFI called this number directly and received an automated response explaining this company (Insight?) helps various companies seek charitable donations. The message states political and charitable organizations are exempt from the do not call list. There was an option to remove your number. I chose that option and entered my number. (I'll probably receive MORE calls now).
I've been getting other odd calls lately similar to this where the ID reads "Las Vegas". I wonder if it's all the same type of scam... oops.. I mean charitable organization.- Caller: Insight

- roThey've called me several times and I call the number back, go through the motions to have my number removed from their calling lists *each* time, but I still get calls.
So... I looked up "Insight Teleservices" (name they give in the recording when I call to have my number removed). Here's the corporate tel number: 1-248-552-8866. The email address is: info@insightservices.com
I called corporate and left a lengthy message requesting that I be deleted from their "robo-calling". Then I called and left another message and said I would continue to call them leaving messages (unlike the rudeness they exhibit by not leaving *me* a message).
And.... I received a personal call from them this morning saying that I am now on their DNC list. We'll see. I suggest to all that you give it a try. And if you ever get a company name from another "solicitor" claiming exemption from the National DNC list, google them and see if you can get a contact for the corporate HQ. Fight fire with fire!!- Caller: Insight Teleservices

- mdjI asked who it was and they told me that they were raising money for breast cancer screenings and they wanted me to make a donation. Before I said no, I asked how they got my (unlisted) number (and I am on the Do Not Call list) and they said, "I don't know -- I just make the calls." This seems to be a scam!
- MG replies to Just plain Mad!Please DON'T give out personal information like that. There is no rule that you have to have a conversation with these people. Simply hang up or better yet, don't answer at all.
- CeeGeeI won't even answer. I check and see if people have problems with a number and usually it's on the list. Seems to me things are WORSE since "Do Not Call"....
- Tired of robo tele-marketing calls.5-17-12; Thursday; 8:03p; I received a call from 517-902-0004. I said hello about 4 times and there was no answer. About 20 seconds after I last said hello, there was a click (hung up) and then the automated voice message "If you would like to make a call, hang up and call the number again ...". I hope someone can do something to end such interrupting miserable calls. Nothing was said; I do not know the name of the company that called me.
- adam replies to markSame here Sunday afternoon, have had so many of these calls I am about ready to get rid of my phone altogether, that will teach them!
- DoogieI get the same thing. They keep calling and hanging up.

- MikeThis is the 7th different number from this company that has called me. I have a contact save in my phone of DO NOT ANSWER. There are 7 numbers in it now. I have attempted to email them and call them at the number listed on their website with no avail. If its not in my contact list, I dont answer, no message, then I know its a telemarketer. I found out that if you do donate to them, only about 10% of the donation goes to the orginization and they keep the rest.

- DonateSmartly| 1 replyFor those who commented that people shouldn't "complain" about telemarketers and just "help people in need". I both agree and disagree with your comments. I whole heartedly agree that people should donate time and money to "respectable charities". However, people should be aware of telemarketing goons that are counting on people’s charity so they can make a buck. You may ask what makes a charity “respectable”. I considered "respectable charities" are those where large portion of their revenue (donations) go directly to the cause they stand for...and guess what? There are a lot of cold-calling Telemarketing companies that look for donations at the expense of a charity. I say at the "expense" of the charity, because they use legitimate charities to skim their "fees" off the top of your "donation". You would be surprised to hear that typically only 10-20% of your donation actually goes to the charity some cold-calling telemarketers are calling you about. I don't know about you, but I would much rather donate directly to a charity and have 60%-95% of my donation go directly to helping disabled veterans, cure cancer, feed starving children...etc. What these telemarketers should actually say is that the majority of your donation will go to the telemarketing company i am working for, while only 10-20% will go to the charity i am calling about. In fact, the next time a telemarketer calls asking for donations to some charity, get some information first, and then put your call on hold while you check things out online. People who call directly from "Respectable charities" will have no issues waiting for you to check things out. The reason is it takes a lot of time and overhead costs to get 1 donation via cold calling. Charities know this and so do telemarketers. The difference is that telemarketers are focused on making as many calls as possible, because they have more pressure to make back the 10%-20% they must give to those charities. Telemarketers must give to these charities not because that is their purpose, it’s so they can circumvent the national do-not-call registry. Charities are exempt from the national do-not-call registry, and telemarketers use this loop hole by "obtaining donations towards charities”. It should also be noted that every “respectable charity” that has called me will always come up on my caller id named something like the charity they stand for. I’ve also never had a “respectable charity” not keep their own do-not-call list (even though they don’t have to).
So, here’s a quick recap on what you should do the next time you get a cold-call from a telemarketer asking about donating to some charity:
1.) Get the name, address, and phone number of the nonprofit 501(c)(3) Charity they are calling about
2.) Ask how much of your donation today would go directly to this nonprofit charity
3.) Then put your call on hold while you check things out online
a. If you can’t make a decision based on the percentage of your donation that’s going to the charity the telemarketer is calling about and then use information about how well the Charity uses its revenues (donations). Use a Charity watchdog site to look up the validity of the charity and find out how much of its revenue (donations) go directly to its cause.
i. * http://www.charitynavigator.org/
ii. http://www.charitywatch.org/
iii. http://www2.guidestar.org/
b. If you are unable to find the nonprofit charity using the charity watch dog sites, then at least verify the charity is registered as 501(c)(3) nonprofit Charity by using the following IRS webpage: http://apps.irs.gov/app/eos/
c. If your still unable to make your decision then go the Federal Trade Commission website and check the telemarketer\charity for any fraud complaints: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/charityfraud/
d. If you don’t feel comfortable giving money over the phone, I would suggest you say no thank you to donating at this time. Then take the time to get the mailing address of the charity and send them a check directly with your donation. This way, no overhead needs to be wasted on them sending you mail and performing further phone calls.
*Please note: I personally like charitynavigator.org because you don’t have to setup a free account to look at a charities financial information and overall rating.
I am positive that “Respectable Charities” everywhere thank you for taking the time to read this information. They look forward to more of your donation reaching their cause instead of lining the pockets of greedy heartless people or businesses.- Caller: Insight(RE:disabledveterans)
