Didnt answer... Sick of all these calls to my cellphone..

Didn't answer.  No message.

This number called our business line today at 1640 hours.  Caller ID said "NYS OFFICE OF U".  Smelling a rat, I picked up the phone but said nothing.  The call held for quite a long time, with no sound, no voice from the other end, which is almost always a sure sign of a idiot-recording waiting for a voice.  Finally it disconnected and then immediately came here to find out what scam artist was calling this time.  I blocked my number and called the number back.  Very interesting!  There was an automatic recording saying the number has been compromised, that the number displayed on caller IDs is that of a spoofed phone number, that the call did not originate from them, that they are trying to investigate the matter and that I should call my local phone company to try to block or slow these calls.  (As if the local phone company gives a rat's behind!)  I've never run across that before.  Obviously a scam artist spoofing a valid fax number for some comptroller in New York.
