Nationwide Marketing Bureau called and claimed our company had ordered and received "mini-website and Online Listing" from them for the past year and wanted us to "renew" our contract. We explained we had never had any contract with them and would like to see in writing or hear a tape of our agreement. 7 days later we received a bill for $598.00 in the mail. After researching this company we believe they are a complete fraud. We had no such agreements and will not pay the bill.

Update:
We reported this to both the FTC and our lawyer. After about 4 hours of phone calls our lawyer called us to inform us that Nationwide Marketing Bureau was going to clear the "debt" and we would not hear from them any more. We have recieved no calls since. My advice to anyone dealing with these people is agree to nothing and pay nothing. Report them to the FCC and dont be afraid to get a lawyer involved. This company is nothing but a worthless bunch of individuals trying to steal from hardworking citizens.

received billing statement for Company using name Natioinwide Marketing Burearu at 334 Cornelia St. Suite 538 Plattsburgh, NY 12901-2319, Phone: 1-888-807-5148 demanding payment in sum of $598.00 for an alleged "Mini Webstie and Online Listing" which was never ordered nor agreed to.  Thereafter on 4/3/08 received a telphone call from a person demanding payment, again stressed no such services were ever ordered, and that we would not pay any amount of the fraudulent bill, I was advised a supervisor would call me back.  Not only is the company a complete fraud but I (we) believe they are guilty of both mail and wire fraud and the matter will be turned over to the FCC and Post Master for further investigation.  Beware, People

Same as above. Very fishy. Asking for $598 from "last years cycle". Never agreed to this, no clue who they are. Asked for a copy of a signed paper. Kept passing back and forth between "John Roberts" and a manager. The more questions and demands I had, they got more and more weird. Definately Beware.

I got exactly the same call as many of those above - they were charging for last year's services which I never signed up for.  They try to seem legitimate by offering employee ID #'s and such but they will not give any phone numbers out and there are none on their website.

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR OR ACCEPT THIS SERVICE.

I received the exact same call today from a company claiming to be "Nationwide Marketing Bureau."  The man wanted me to "renew" my contract with them for an online listing that I had clearly never signed up for.  They said I would be receiving an invoice for 598.00 in the mail and needed me to "verify" personal information on a recorded call.  I immediately questioned the call because I had NEVER signed up for any such thing, and the man got very defensive and irritated.  I asked to speak to a manager, but got dismissed.  After being transferred to someone else, the man got back on the line and was very rude.  He eventually hung up on me.  I reported the call to our state police department, and they are forwarding it to the fraud dept.  Glad that I found this site when I searched for the company name.

These people are busy.
I also rec'd their call regarding last years web service and today I rec'd the invoice for $598.00. Yeah, This is not going to be paid. I am tearing it into little pieces and sending it back to them. I am glad this site was available to see it wasnt just me. The phone call was,(as someone else stated)-WIERD.

I received a call from them back in August saying the same thing about renewing a contract. They sent an invoice for $499 (I guess times are hard and they raised their prices since then lol). I told them we weren't going to pay and they threatened to send it to a collection agency. I got our lawyer involved and she was on the phone with them asking lots of questions and when asked the name of the collection agency, he started screaming and yelling and hung up on her...obviously he was very professional. We filed complaints with the FTC, BBB, and 5 other agencies. The only one to really take any action was the BBB and they actually sent a letter to that "company" and Nationwide responded saying that I contacted them and that we had a verbal agreement. [FYI, If you get recorded DON'T say anything, they use creative editing and take it out of context]. Nationwide said they would clear the "debt" and was told we would be put on their Do Not Call list. Unfortunately, they called again today and I simply hung up on them.

I have received numerous calls from Nationwide Marketing Bureau.  Their number is now coming across as "unknown".  Like everyone else who has reported, the claim my advertising expired and want to know if I would like to renew.  When I say "no", they say they will send me a bill of $500 for last year's advertising.  They claim to have a record of my verbal authorization for this advertising, but have not been able to produce it.  I have a 1 person consulting business with a very localized market.  I would NEVER have authorized advertising of this nature.

I have filed complaints with the FCC and Better Business Bureau.

Mr. Harris called to say he was calling to collect a debit for a website/listing I had confirmed doing via a phone call, which I knew just didn't sound right.

So, my husband and I did some quick internet research and thank goodness for your site and others it lead me to believe it was a scam.  So, we called the  number back and confronted Mr. Harris with this info.  He proceeded to tell us that our file had been lost.  As we pressed the matter more with him he told us to shove it up our a@! and hung up.

Never signed up for a subscription for on-line marketing, yet someone called me from 646-367-8252 telling me I agree to cancel my subscription.  I do believe this is a call from the same company that sent us a bill for $499.00, which we refused to pay because we also never signed up for any on-line service or telephone directory.  This company needs to be shut down for all the fraudulant calls they are making to businesses.  The person that spoke to me today was Mona Mallonie at 646-367-8252 (her direct line), however when I called her back it immediately goes to voice mail and I have had no return phone call.

Got a bill in the mail $400+ and called the company.  Said they were Nation Wide Marketing and I had ordered a website and listing.  Told them I had not.  They said if I wished to cancell I had to do so within 10 days of bill.  I said CANCEL CANCEL CANCEL!!!!  They said it would be taklen care of.  That was a year ago.  I still get phone calls from the same number (518)282-4177 demanding payment about once a month.  Now when the calls come they claim they are a collection agency (from the same number)and that I must apprear in court in New York (I live in Alaska)or they will automatically win the case.  My last conversation (today) ended by them hanging up on me.

Same as all above.  They say we ordered an on-line directory listing and are demanding payment.  Called while I was out the other day.  Not knowing who it was, I called back.  Now I get it.  They are a SCAM!!!!

Another call.  Very irate to "collect funs you owe".  Insisted we owned them money for a service they performed after telemarketer called us.  Informed them we were on government Do Not Call list prior to the telemarketing  call, so perhaps we have a lawsuit to file.  Said they would check it out and get back to me.

Very similar to the other posts. I recall receiving the first call about cancelling our listing.  Even though no one in the office knew who they were or how we got on their listing, we did tell them to cancel the listing. I was asked if I was authorized to receive the invoice. I said I was not in accounts payable or the decision maker but if they needed a name to put on the invoice, they could use mine.  I remember making myself very clear the first time that I was not authorized to make payments and that I did not handle the payables.

What a mistake that was because Steve Harris actually twisted that to say 'I ordered the invoice' and was therefore responsible. We went around and around but I asked for a Sales rep who could verify the terms of the contract and when we entered it and under who's authorization. I was told that 'it was never going to happen' because since its in collections there is no way to see the original contract (can you imagine if you ran your business like that). I was also told it was a verbal agreement but he could not tell me when or who made the agreement.  I was then told that 'anyone of any intelligence' would know that having the invoice coming to me means I authorized payment. I countered with that I could arbitrarily send anyone an invoice too for a made up service, that doesn't mean they have to pay. But, as you know you can’t get anywhere with a scammer.

Anyway, I put him on hold to get someone else to take the call and he hung up. Like the others, I logged a complaint on the FTC website.
