I got a call from these people, said they were from Police benevolent association, didn't give me an exact name. Told me the money they get goes to officers equipment and training, which is BS. Police get their money from either grants by state and federal money, seized assets or from whatever municipality they represent. (Spent ten years in law enforcement). Trust me, as an LEO, this is a scam. I told the guy I wasn't interested, he didn't seem to get it, I tried to be polite, but I had to hang up on him. SCAM all the way.

Odd because I got call from this number and the man on the line said he was raising money for an Islamic Freedom fighter group...didn't understand the name he said...and asked for my support of Jihad.  

They call my house almost on a daily basis asking for money for the police PBA to help train officers, they have left numerous messages. The guy sounded nice on the phone and asked how much money I would donate $45 or $55 dollars and then transferred me to another guy who I could barely hear because of bad reception on their end I am guessing. After asking if I am "Mrs. Beach" which I am not he double checked if the amount I could pay was too high and if so they would allow me to pay less. I wanted to see how far this would go. He then automatically asked me what type of credit card I would use, I told him to hold on a minute and hung up. I then went online and blocked this number from calling me, googled it and this is what I found. On one call the ID showed Elizabethtown NY.

Thanks for posting this, I received the same call with the same information. I know better than to give out credit card number to anyone that calls.  I am going to report this to Attorney General's office so no on else gets scammed.

Just got the call from this number, but didn't answer because I get way too many solicitation calls. But the id was strange:  U904163122001172. Thanks to you all for posting. I'll block the number now.

Rec'd a call from this number about 3:30pm on Wed. Sept. 3.  Caller ID gave that number and location of Elizabethtown, NY,  which is a small town and the County Seat  in Essex Co. in northern NY, south of the Canadian border.  This very pushy man said he was representing some sort of police conference, would  I send $50. again and he would send me a gift packet (or something.).  Told him I never contributed to them in the first place. Said he didn't want the call to be a burden but he would put me down for $30.  Told him no amount, that I did not believe him, did not like his pushy attitude, do not call again, and hung up.
Checking this number with Google and other sources, it does show the Elizabethtown, NY area, but also says it's a landline.  That seems questionable.   Am reporting this number to the 'Do Not Call' registry, which I had signed up for a few years ago.  It does help.

Call them back.  After a very (very, very, very) long silent pause they will give you the option to be placed on their 'Do Not Call List.'  I did this.  Waiting to see if it works, as they have been calling me frequently the last couple of days.  8:30 AM today.  Wish I had their home phone #s.

Caller ID "V............" ... SEP 05@4:02pm EDT… Call blocked after first ring by a free service available to most Internet-based VoIP phone service users(I have Time Warner). 800notes is currently blocking the name of that free service so you will need to Google "No more robocalls" to get more information.

This number is showing up on our caller ID. We not know anyone or have not dealt with anyone from Elizabethtown, NY.

Heavy foreign accent asking for donations to help support Islamic fighters.

Received a call asking that i contribute to a fund set up for the families of police officers that were killed in the line of duty.  He said he would send a packet including a sticker for my car window that showed i supported the police departments fund.  Such a scam.

09/13/2014 @ 07:27 PM from Elizabethtown, NY. Caller ID shows the "V" number. First clue is a scam. The Police donation scammers keep switching to a new (518) number. Collecting for Police and jihadist seems sort of ironic. Do we disrespect our police so much that collecting for jihadist collects more donations?
I've just blacklisted this number. The next time this number calls the number will still show up on Caller ID history, but the phone is programmed not to ring. Perfect!

DNC does not apply to fundraising calls an behalf of charities no matter how little actually goes to the charity.  They are supposed to maintain an internal Do Not Call list and place you on it when requested however.

This is a registered DO NOT CALL LINE...
Call several times a day....I do not answer unfamiliar/blocked calls. Next time I will pick up and then lay the phone down and let them waste their time...and tie up their line....once they figure it out...then they take you off their list.

Got a call from this number at about 4:00 in the afternoon. They have been calling for the past several days. Person with th heavy "New Yawk" accent says he is calling for some police association. Hung up and blocked the number.

Call for. 518-412-4318 claiming to represent. The PBA Police Benevolent Association.  I asked if they knew about the do not call list and he said it did not apply. I told him I did not want him calling my house. He said he would put our number on their do not call list. Time will tell.  I am very tired of these scams.
