I received a call from Rebecca Putnam @ 518-770-6737 (unknown number). Told I was a semi-finalist in a contest. One of a max of 150 in PA. Win a New Tahoe or Vacation for 4 in Hawaii or Cash. I would receive 2 complementary magazines that don't have to be renewed at the end of the year. Also I would receive a Quality watch for being a preferred customer. They only ask that I purchase 1 magazine (US News & World Report) for $3.25 / week. Rebecca told me Tania would call back shortly to verify info & give me my cash claim number. 10 minutes later I received a call from Tania (518-752-4474 Mag World Publi). She reread all details and said she would verify my credit card info. I then asked if I was a semi-finalist, why do I have to purchase something in order to qualify. Why should I have to pay $169 (3.25 x 52 weeks) for a 1 in 150 chance of winning. She then hung up on me. Every contest I have seen says No Purchase Required for a chance to win. Sounds like a real scam to get you to spend $169 for a magazine I don't even want.

I received the same call from a Jay Smith.  I was told I had been asked to support the sweepstakes by purchasing a weekly magazine which in this case was ESPN magazine.  When I told him I did not want to buy anything he said thanks and hung up.

Keep getting calls from these people -- as soon as I see the number.. I don't even answer.

Got a call from Nelson Rogers 518-770-6737...same publishers sweepstakes scam as above, I was given a customer service number of 1-800-496-0814, which did not work so I immediately canceled my debit card.
