I received a call from this number this morning...I called back and the lady said it was UPS ...United Processing Servers (not United Parcel Service). She looked up my number and said they must have mis-dialed. Sounds like yet another scam company.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

•is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
•refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
•asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
•exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

•Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

•Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

•Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

•Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

I just received a call from this NY number.  Didn't answer as I know no one with NY exchange.  Have been getting lots of out of state calls.  

This number called and didn't leave a message.

Received threatening call from this NY # from United Processing saying they would be serving me with civil suit. Sorry dont owe any money to anyone.  Life is good.

Keep getting calls from this number pass month or so, caller never leaves a message.  Very annoying

Just received a call from this number tonight.  Really rude guy stated he was from United Processing and for me to be expecting to be serviced for a quarterly suit and would I like to be served at home or work?  lol...Have no idea what THAT is all about, but I have no outstanding debts either. What a POS.

This numbercalls my phone saying that my number was written down as contact for someone else. And asked did i know this person and i said no. so they told me they were going to send me papers and summons me to court for the other persons fraud and false information. i don't understand what's going on but i say...BRING IT GO AHEAD SEND PAPERS....

I got a call from this number asking if I who I was and I said who is this, then she repeated to ask me who I was and I said you called me who the hellllllll is this. long story short, she said she was from United Processing and she was going to serve me with forging papers or something like that, I'm like ok, that's fine. good bye.  I have no clue to what they are talking about don't owe no one nothing and never forged anything in my life.

I will keep in shot . I revived the same call she said that I would have to go to court about some fraud papers I sign I said go ahead then I call back and got no answer

I got a Call from this Number yesterday and it was a Robot call and told me to call them on this number 855- 244-7276 I have sense this NO. before and it is all a scam

These people have done the same to use but we are like you and don't know anyone in NY. These guys have been calling our family members which is really scary . I will be reporting this to our local law enforcement .

Received unwanted call from 518-772-2169 asking to speak to Sherman Wilkins. I stated I was not Sherman, and they wanted to know what time he would be home and said they was leaving message with me for him. They said they would only make three attempts to contact him, and then proceed to court with out him. I hung the phone up on them because it became a one sided conversation. What kind of mass is this? My caller ID show other missed calls from this same number, and I need them to stop calling. I called them back and tried to get their address, but they wouldn't give it to me. They would only tell me the name of the company was United Processing. Is it legal for them to call my home phone number like this?
