Why am I getting calls from a number that is not in service.

Called, but left no message.

They just called. I called the number back but it's not connected. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.

They just called me and left a looong message; they offer to solve all your financial problems! And I am on the Canadian No Call list plus my number is not listed anywhere.
If you call back-the message is that the number is not in service.

Got the call @ 11:14AM PST.  Left blank voice mail message.

Just received a call at 11:53 am pst about solving my credit with collections agency, just hung up on them and put on my blocked list.

ADVICE To ALL since everytime I get such calls and there aren't really as much as there used to be, enter the number in a Google Search ie: 519-285-4356 and you'll obviously see this site come up and many others as well. They aren't all scams but some are telemarketers calling from inside lines that have outgoing but not incoming calls. Think of it as a factory you work in and you dial "9" to get an outside line. The caller I.D. will show your number but it doesn't mean you can accept calls at it. Payphones often show up on Caller I.D. but you can no longer call them-used to be able to in the old days. Trust me, scammers can pick numbers from a hat, sometimes get people on the other end, sometimes not. In the early 70's and as a teenager I tried selling magazines to people and we were provided a list of all numbers starting with 0000 and up to 9999, obviously people move, people change numbers, people are unlisted. Sometimes "little old granny" screamed "how did YOU get my number???? WE didn't, we just got around to hers, eventually. It's too bad that at the home page of such a site (this one) we can't post in big letters "YOU ARE NOT AT RISK JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE DIALED YOUR NUMBER AND ASKED YOU A QUESTION OR TWO OR OFFERED YOU SOMETHING!" From the past few years where I've had my own calls come in, I've looked them up, find many other sites where people ask the same question or think it's gotta be a conspiracy and so on. You CAN easily ask your own phone provider for information as they CAN look it up, my own provider has tried those numbers for me, in the past and they had different names for such numbers but it really doesn't matter here today. If you bother to read all that I have posted you'll find that if you scan down all the posts of the thousands of numbers in question, it's far to often the case where the person getting the call doesn't do enough on their own to do some checking to begin with. I have caller I.D. and I have voicemail. Mine's a landline but now unlisted since I have Vonage. Big deal since I've actually had my number for 28 years now. When I first got it though, I would get calls for Chinese Food Delivery, would politely tell them it was a wrong number and hang up. Should I have freaked out and blasted the other person just because? A few times after having a few drinks I was even quite obnoxious and took "their order" which of course never did arrive now did it? I even used to get calls from Sweden, Germany etc. when those people dialed 1 digit off BUT if it was serious and I had answered, I DID Call the person with almost the same number as mine and inform them of the call. Once I even got a call from a Personal Care Home where they left a message that the person's mother had taken a spill. Obviously they would NOT Have got this call, I did. I called them up to inform them they needed to call the home. Trust me here also, most of the numbers in question as this one is, are all out there already, some of us just use our head and KNOW it's not that big of a problem and even if you had something to hide or someone's looking for you-bill collectors, ex etc. what's the problem anyway since they are only dialing a number to begin with? At least some of you are intellligent enough to ignore it, block etc. and move on or complain on a site that can only help you with a little advice.

Read my info below but something to add. I'm in Winnipeg and have Vonage which is an eastern based company. I have a 204 area code but KNOW I could easily have an Alberta area code if I wanted, even someplace in the Phillipines if so desired as they are there too. Doesn't mean it would automatically be a scam if I chose a diff. code and called YOU now would it? 519 covers most of S/W Ontario, doesn't mean those calls ARE coming from there though and I'm intelligent enough to have asked already. Try using a little common sense and do a little searching on your own and you'll see that millions of others also know this to be true.

I suggest next time this number rings, ask the telemarketer what the company name is. Get it EXACT.

Then ask for the company's phone number -- so you can get back to them! (519-285-4356 is not connected.) THANKS

when i use to work for telemarketers in the very early 90s...they had phone books for all over canada....pick a page and start calling....

We can complain -- but you'll need a company name and, preferably, a phone number.

yes, called 3:23pm, no msg left. So they could be one of those companies that offers to save your financial issues or rate. Don't believe it. They take your cc number and use it for their crimes buddies or take your cc and charge you a monthly fee. So in the long run you lose out. Just declare bankruptcy.

10:46 am CST Feb. 23/2011:  Got a call from from Windsor, Ontario area 519-285-4356.  I did not answer. A message was left offering credit card counseling.  Press 2 if I want off their list.  Press 1 for a counselor.  I did not press any number.  Afraid I may be charged for a long distance call if I did.  The point is I am on the Do Not Call Registry and shouldn't have to ignore the call,  block sender this number,  ignore it, or move on.  What do we have a Do Not Call Registry for?

I also got called by this company in Alberta.  I filed a formal complaint as they are in direct violation of the DNC as they do not honour the ADAD rules as they do not identify who they are or who they are calling on behalf of of a means to call to be taken on their list.

Called and no talking on their side. Their side disconnected after 30 seconds

This number not in service, but receiving a call, can't let them know  to stop calling

I just got a call from this number also -when I tried to call it back, it said it unlisted

Received a call yesterday at an incredibly inconvenient time - a very staticky recorded message. The same call today, at the same time - I listened, through the static - recorded message re credit card debt, blah blah, if you want to be removed from our list press 2, if you wish to speak to someone press 1. I pressed 1 - the call was abruptly hung up at their end. The number was 519-285-4356. I am on the Do Not Call list - I have complained to the CRTC and also reported this to my phone company, in case this is some kind of long-distance calling scam. And to the callers: Get lost bozos.

Pestering us daily for weeks now!

The "Do not Call Registry" website has blocked complaints from my area code (250) and others for years now.

I want what they have! ...to be left alone!
