Called and insisted that they speak with the owner (using first name). They refused to discuss "private financial information" with anyone but that person ("you're not authorized!"). Kept telling me that the name of the company was "Merchant Services" and when I said "we don't do business with that company," told me that it was a "private financial matter with (the owner) and I can't discuss it with YOU." Told them not to call again and hung up. Immediately got another call, this time from "Chris, the supervisor" who tried to browbeat me that this was confidential for the owner of the company. I kept asking for the name of the company, the website where I could look them up. etc., and I told him we did not discuss business with anyone whom we don't know. He said that, no matter who we did business with on credit cards, they were the "upstream provider" and he was calling about interchange fees. Obviously, he said, you don't know how interchange fees work.  Actually, I do, and I know this scam (the interchange fees come from Visa and MasterCard, not from an "upstream provider"). Once I told him this, he hung up.

Just received a call from them as well.  Same situation!

I repeatedly asked if this was a sales call, and "Brandon" insisted it was not. However, when he kept returning to what was obviously a pre-rehearsed script, I explained that if this were a legitimate phone call, then we should be able to have a legitimate conversation. I finally told him I wasn't interested, and hung up.

Almost immediately received another call from another person form the same number. I let it go to voice mail, no message was left.

Super annoying.

Caller said his name was Chris with Murchant Services. Asked for the owner. I explained the owner is out of town for two weeks and what is it regarding. He said that it was a financial matter, I said the owner has nothing to do with that, and he can speak to the controller. He said only the owner is authorized and he can conference the controller. Then after going round and round and him getting really snarky with me because I refuse to take his number down and he refuse to leave a message he finally said it was regarding our visa and mastercard payments. I said we dont take credit cards, he hung up. I just Love how they think that becuase I answer phones they can bully me! Telephone tuff guy!!!

This guy is an ass, same situation as above.  But when I told him I was not interested, he called back and took a very direct tact...He eventually told me to shut my mouth and I lit off on him and hung up.  The kid is a punk, beware, this is a scam!!!

Same thing happened at our business.  A guy named "Chris" called from "Merchant Services." He insisted on speaking with the owner.  Our owner never takes calls and always ask to just take a message for anyone who calls and to not give out his information.  I told Chris I would leave a message, he instantly got rude and snippy with me DEMANDING to speak to the owner, I told him he can't all I can do is take his message and hung up.  He immediately called back to file a complaint against me asking to speak to my supervisor, after telling him I can take a message for that too he called me a liar and went off he also insisted everyone else who calls is a scam and that he is the ONLY one who is legit.  Needless to say, our business knows he is a scam but he won't stop calling!  We just tell them we aren't taking anymore messages, we have one and if our owner wants to call back then they will.

He started screaming at me when I started to ask him questions as he said he was from our credit card processor company, which is also named merchant services.  He had the wrong name of our company and this started to make me question what he was telling me.  I asked him to stop screaming at me and to explain himself and that is when he started going LA LA LA LA.  I called our credit card processing company and they were extremely helpful and advised that they would never call us to report a change in our processing and that it would always come in the form of a written notice usually attached to our statement.

Similar story - Chris has called asking for the CEO by first name. I put him through the normal questions to see if he was selling anything, even asking if this was a sales call. He said that this was not a sales call and it was in regards to File Reference Number: 1234xyzetc.

He is trying to sell something. He is not calling on a real matter of concern. He clearly is manipulative from the info he has tried to use to get through me to the CEO - after reading his other tactics he is clearly a jerk with little regards for people's time or feelings.  

I could not be more tired of dealing with shady telemarketers!

The same thing with me. Shady as hell.

Question him a little and he gets butthurt and starts acting like a jerk. I found it funny but honestly I hope he gets some kind of reprisal for his actions. Total bottomfeeder scumbag.
