- wavecraft| 2 repliesI was at work this morning early with a coworker friend. His father called him and told him that a David Baxter from the treasury department called looking for him and left this # for my friend to call. My friend called and put it on speaker so I could here. The man had a accent (possibly Indian) and told my friend that he is with the U.S. Treasury department work in conjunction with the I.R.S and that a treasury agent, accompanied buy a law enforcement team, will be here to arrest him within 40 minutes. My friend asked for what reason. He said that my friend owed back federal income tax. My friend said that's not true. The man hung up. My friend called back, the man answered, my friend asked for his badge# The man gave him a # (obviously fake) then hung up again. We called him back again and found that my friends phone# was being blocked. So I called the # from my phone and the man answered. My friend took my phone and explained, I'm calling from a different phone because something must be wrong with mine. The man hung up again then blocked my number. I'm not sure what this scam is, maybe it's just a prank. I don't know. But rest assured, there isn't a law enforcement agency anywhere that will call someone and tell them that they are coming to arrest them, that would be absurd.

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection - Fed upI would ask all of us who have dealt with this POS to turn the tables and call him nonstop and at all hours. He gets very annoyed because it impacts his ability to steal and harass. It's quite funny actually.
- LoriA man with Indian accent called saying he was David Baxter from the US Dept. of the Treasury on behalf of the IRS and wanted my husband to call him back. I told him I did not believe he was from the treasury department because they would never call. I had to repeat it several times. He said ok and hung up. It is the same man who called here from another number about a month ago threatening us with arrest if we did not call back and speak to another man and then pay immediately. Checked on that number a month ago. Also a scam. Back then I tried to call back the number and there was no answer.

- confused / calls are coming everyday replies to Abused taxpayerWhat is happening with these calls this same man has been calling
my business saying we owe tax's when there is not one tax bill we
haven't payed. he is truly bugging me, what should I do?? - Tammie| 1 replyJust got a message on my voicemail at work from an Indian woman, (dot not feather), named Jennifer White...right! Message said for me to contact her regarding legal matters 530-733-0023. I've received this call before and the girls in the office and I enjoy the comic relief these people provide. We even had one guy tell me that I would be arrested the next day. Although it's entertaining to us because we know it's scam, I fear for others, especially the elderly who might buy into this scam. AND...how are they getting away with this??
- Call type: Debt collector
- Wavecraft replies to wavecraftMy friend that I told you about that first received the call and I along with three other friends are now making prank calls to this number every day at break and lunch times. We keep them on the line for as long as possible to waste as much of there time as possible before saying something totally absurd to them, then they hang up. When we call back our number is blocked. So then someone else takes a turn. By the next day our numbers are no longer blocked and we start harassing and pranking them all over again. We can tell that every one there is getting annoyed. We get a number of different people answering this number and they all have an Indian accent (Curios). They now say that they are the department of legal affairs as there opening line when they answer there phone. They used to say that they were the U.S. dept of Treasury.
- Lauren replies to TammieJennifer White called me today and said she was with the Dept. of Legal Affairs. Is this a scam? I didn't answer my machine.
- GlenI got a call, Left message. An indian accented feller said he is from The U.S. Dept of treasury / Legal Affairs. I have had recent past experience with a similar scinareo. This call was from 530-733-0023 a David Baxter. Because i went through this a few months ago I did not get as intimidated. I just started dialing the number, over and over and over for about an hour maybe two.
I never said a word. I just held the phone, listening until he hung up. Then I'd call again. I could hear what sounded like a caller sweat shop in the background.
The guy even sounded like he was kinda loosing hes indian accent.
A couple months ago this happen. That time the number was 951-223-6693. His name was Miller. He and I had serious words. I called that number for days, anytime I got aggravated at something I would call for him and get nasty. Within a few days that number was disconnected.
I wouldn't worry About it. Just call him and take your frustrations out him (or her) instead of the people you love. This caller is a jerk and a scam..- Caller: U.S. Dept of treasury / Legal Affairs
