Caller said that my name was drawn in a contest.  When questioned on what contest the entry was from-he said likely a fair or home show.  I advised that I have not entered my name in any contest for the past few years.  When I asked him what I won, he said a Honeywell Home Protection System.  Needless to say, I told him not interested

got a call from spot security, never heard of them before, they did not leave any message on machine after it picked up.

I got a call from this number last night. Didn't answer it because I was driving, besides that I've never seen it before. I did enter a contest a couple weeks ago at a health expo, however it was for a Safeway/QFC gift card, not for anything related to homes or security systems. If that's what it is I don't suppose I'll answer next time or call back as I rent my place and couldn't care less even if I really had won a security system or whatever they're claiming.

Caller said I had won a drawing for a 3-month security package.  Of course I never entered a drawing.

I have my razr setup to only ring if someone is calling from a number listed in my caller groups. But the caller caught me at the right time, when I was looking at my phone. Usually I ignore it and rarely do I except it; thinking of whom I know in that area code. I figure if it's that important, they'll leave a vMail.

Anways, I answered the phone and paused 10 seconds for my greeting, knowing a little about the automated answering systems. She replied, "Dan?"... and I nonchalantly hung up. Then I got even more worried that maybe I had hung up on my brothers girl friend, since she isn't listed in my phone, and maybe something was wrong with my brother.

But after seeing you guys reporting this number, I feel relieved and won't be spending the 14.95 at intelius.com to find out more.

I received a phone call from this number too, 541-677-6304.  I too was told that we had won a home security system in a drawing.  After reading some of the postings here I checked further on the web.  "Spot Security" is an actual buisness located in Portland OR and other surrounding cities throughout Oregon and Washington.  They have posted ads for hiring employees and this is a link to their company profile provided through the Oregonian, Portlands newspaper.  http://www.jobdango.com/jobseekers/employersprofile.asp?EmployerID=4748
I found several listings for them in different cities with addresses and phone numbers.  They might be cold calling...but I pretty sure that it is not an out and out SCAM.  Hope this information helps some of you.

I just called them back after missing the phone call, and told the woman I had missed a call from them. She said that they were Spot security company, and asked if I had an account with them. I said no, so she asked for my name, and pulled up that I had won the drawing.
I got some info from her, they install the whole system for you free, the system is free, and you pay for monthly monitoring. Apparently I was 1 of 6 drawn from 28000 entries or something (and I very well may have entered this, my parent's security system is out of date and has glitches). She said if I was not the actual homeowner, then I could transfer the prize to someone else within the next 3 days. Which leads me to believe that they may just be cold calling.
But, we did have one guy come by my parent's house a while back, offering a free security system upgrade when you pay for monthly monitoring (for a different company). So it could just be what security companies do to get your business. I don't think they are a scam, I just think they're trying to get business.

541 is an Oregon area code, and the website listed before that linked to http://spotsecurity.net/ also puts them in Oregon. The woman said the drawings were 6-8 months ago. I will check my husbands missed calls to see if they are the ones who have been calling him lately too. He has a lot of weird numbers calling him, I'll make him answer (or call back!) some and get some info for here.

My dead husband just got a call on this number to say he won a drawing at the County Fair at the South Center Mall.

Yeah, I had entered a drawing from a local group of businesses (in northern Washington), and they called me saying I had won third prize in a contest.  Same deal as above with the security system (though they said it was free, no monthly payments or any contract), but I said no thank you.
Interestingly, my mother got the same call saying she had also won third prize.  So maybe our contact-info is being sold/traded...

This is the 3rd or 4th call in sevearal months we have received from this number, and for the first time this evening I asked them what they were calling in regards to.  Seems we were mysteriously entered in a drawing at an "expo" (lie - we haven't been to any expo ever!) and had "won" a home security package.  Here's where it gets fun. I told the girl with the very obnoxious voice to take me off their list. She said "uhhhh we don't have a list". I said "you are required to have a list according to federal regulations, and failure to have one can subject you to a fine, so, if you call my house again I will take you to court and sue your ass"...she started to say "uhhhh you don't have to do that..." and I said "thank you, goodbye!" and hung up.

This may not be an outright scam, but they are certainly not calling people who have filled out a form at a fair or expo. It is solicitation, period, and if they do not keep a do-not-call list and provide it to you upon request (if you filled out a form, they must have your address, right?) they are in violation of federal regulations, and can be fined and sued in small claims if they call again.

So there.

They are trying to get around the requirement to maintain a do-not-call list by claiming that you have "won" a security system in a drawing you filled out. In other words, they are lying...and they are stupid.

I got a call from this number a couple days ago, but I was at work at the time & they didn't leave a message.  Since I don't know anyone that lives in this area code, I was immediately suspicious.

called me today, a bit peculiar considering that on the caller ID it said "SPOT SERCURITY". perhaps 'sercurity' is a company name, but I assumed it was a misspelling of security. Didn't answer; didn't leave a message.

This number just called me twice in a row... I never answer numbers that I do not recognize. I believe that if it was someone who really needed to get ahold of me, they would have left me a message. Needless to say, they didn't leave a message. If they call again, is there something I can do to make sure that they, well, don't ever call again?!

I work for this company. It's not a scam.

i got a call from this number on my cell phone and i didnt anwser i didnt know whos number this was but i called back and it was really weird it was almost like a heart beat tone like beep beeep  then it just went to a full beep and stayed that way its freaking me out.

i went to their website to post a complaint and their "share feedback" section mysteriously timed-out every time i tried to say something including the words "court" "do not call" "telemarketing" and "displeased." when i removed all of these words the comment went through.  hmmmmm...
